Jet-Steel Oy on laadukkaita ruostumattomia, haponkestäviä ja alumiinisia ohutlevytuotteita valmistava yritys, joka sijaitsee Valkealan teollisuusalueella, Kouvolassa. Yritys on perustettu vuonna 1992 ja liikevaihtomme on 3 - 5 miljoonaa euroa. Jet-Steel Oy työllistää tällä hetkellä noin 20 työntekijää ja pajan kapasiteetti on 200-300 tonnia vuodessa. Olemme toimineet jo useita vuosia menestyksekkä

When making material choices, the focus is often on the initial purchase and price. In reality, however, the most decisive factor is life cycle cost.

Stainless steel is an excellent example of this.

💡 Why is stainless steel often the most cost-effective choice?

Corrosion resistance
- The passive layer formed on the surface of stainless steel protects the material effectively. When correctly selected and treated (e.g. pickling after welding), the service life can be very long – even decades without significant damage.

Low maintenance requirements
- No continuous painting, coating, or repairs. This means direct savings in maintenance and fewer operational downtimes.

Hygiene and appearance
- A smooth and clean surface is not just an aesthetic choice – in many applications, it is also a functional requirement.

Pickling plays a key role in ensuring the corrosion resistance of stainless steel.

At Jet-Steel, this is handled in-house using both tank and spray pickling, depending on the size of the component. Pickling improves corrosion resistance and gives the surface its characteristic matte finish.

Recently our long-term partner, inspection body Dekra Oy spent a full day with us delivering training on visual inspection, penetrant testing and radiographic testing.

They brought a digital radiography system to our facilities for the entire day, allowing our welders to perform various tests on plates and pipes, and immediately review the results together. If any defects were found, we discussed what could be done differently next time. We also intentionally created different types of defects to better understand how specific actions or the lack of them can lead to quality issues. This practical approach significantly deepened both skills and knowledge. During the day, we also welded new procedure qualification tests for duplex steels.

All in all, it was an excellent day: nearly 100 radiographic images were taken and it was a highly engaging and educational experience for everyone involved on both sides.

Over the past few years, we’ve made it a tradition to visit companies in our industry, especially those that are closely connected to our own operations.

This time our excursion took us to Stalatube, whose square and rectangular tubes are key components in our products, as well as to Konecranes, whose overhead cranes we use and whose lifting equipment inspection and maintenance services we rely on. In previous years, we’ve also visited our clients and other long-time partners.

These visits always offer something valuable. We get an inside look at how other companies operate, which often sparks new ideas for improving our own processes. It’s also inspiring to see how the components and machines we use are actually manufactured and to learn about everything else these companies do behind the scenes.

And of course, the best part might be getting to step outside the daily routine together as a team and occasionally running into familiar faces along the way. As usual, we wrapped up the day at the Tykkimäki Sauna, where we enjoyed great food and drinks, a warm sauna and a refreshingly cold lake.

Inspiring student visit at Jet-Steel!

Recently we had the pleasure of welcoming students from LUT University. Most of our guests were mechanical engineering students from the Mechanical Engineering Guild (KRK ry) and business students from Enklaavi ry with a few curious minds from other fields as well.

The group was active, curious and full of great questions. For many, the visit brought new insights into our industry and together we discussed how small and medium-sized enterprises rely on diverse expertise and cross-disciplinary collaboration to keep things running smoothly.

As a highlight, we were honored to receive a traditional certificate stating that KRK ry and Enklaavi ry have inspected our factory and confirmed it to be fit for its intended use. A fun tradition and one we’re proud to continue!

Big thanks to all the students for joining us, we look forward to future collaborations!
