A demanding road maintenance project was carried out in the Swiss Alps at nearly 3,000 metres altitude, where MeriRoad equipment proved its performance in extreme conditions.
The 9-kilometre road section runs through narrow and challenging mountain terrain, where transporting new aggregate would be costly — and in some locations nearly impossible.
With the MeriRoad method, the road was rehabilitated using existing on-site materials. The process included milling, profiling and compaction, resulting in a stable, even and durable road surface without the need to bring in new material.

This approach reduces transport needs, speeds up the work and lowers overall costs, while also minimizing environmental impact.

Tractor-mounted MeriRoad machines are well suited for demanding mountain conditions where heavy equipment and continuous material transport are not realistic options.

Efficient forest road rehabilitation through smart recycling.
In this project, the forest road was rehabilitated using two tractors and MeriRoad equipment — grader, crusher and compactor — while making 100% use of the existing road material. This efficient process improved the usable road width and created a new wearing course without the need for new crushed aggregate.
Work stages:
1. edge removal
2. stone crushing / creation of the wearing course
3. profiling
4. compaction
The result is an efficient work process, effective material recycling, and a durable forest road structure.
