With more than 100,000 controllers installed worldwide, we work with many genset engines every day.

Behind every reliable genset, there are two brains: the engine’s electronic control unit (ECU), and the controller that runs the whole installation.

Our COMPACT controllers talk directly to the engine ECU. In practice, they:
✅ read engine data in real time (speed, oil pressure, coolant temperature)
✅ display ECU fault codes and turn them into protections
✅ send start/stop and speed commands, depending on the engine

From Verona to Paris: two weeks on the solar & storage trail

Last week, Aurélia, our Internal Sales Representative, travelled to Solar & Storage Live Verona (October 7–8).

Solar panels and batteries are increasingly paired with generators in hybrid power plants. Meeting the people who build these systems helps us understand what their projects need.

From retrofit to commissioning

This week, we hosted the technicians of ADV Altares for a two days of AMF COMPACT training. Their daily work: retrofitting, troubleshooting and commissioning standby gensets, the ones that take over automatically when the grid fails. The objective of these two days: configure an AMF COMPACT from A to Z and commission a mains backup installation.

The program was built around their field needs. Key topics covered:

At Solar & Storage Live UK in Birmingham (22–24 September), the joint Victron Energy & CRE Technology microgrid solution was presented to visitors, and the response was outstanding.

The idea is simple. A microgrid brings several energy sources together, such as solar panels, batteries and generators, in a local network that can run on its own.

From Sophia Antipolis to the Middle East: CRE Technology solutions on show with Lasting Power Generation.

At our Sophia Antipolis headquarters, this bench has two jobs. Our R&D engineers use it to test and validate our COMPACT controllers in real operating conditions. Our trainers use it to give customers hands-on experience before they go on site.

Same bench, same controllers, different teams. That's what makes it special. Engineers, trainers and support cross paths here every day. A question raised during a training can quickly turn into a discussion with the people who design the products.

Twelve Victron Energy distributors, and one microgrid to put it all into practice

Two weeks ago, we asked how gensets, PV, BESS and the utility grid can run as one power plant without ever dropping the load. On 14 and 15 September, twelve Victron Energy distributors came to Sophia Antipolis to work through the answer.

Foundations first: plant architecture, control logic, and how CRE controllers coordinate every source with the Victron Cerbo GX. Then the second afternoon on our training microgrid: real controllers, real sources, where everything discussed on the whiteboard suddenly has a behaviour you can watch.
