🌍 EEC 2026 in Athens is proving to be a great success, with around 4,000 delegates!

Yesterday, our team – Alexis Arzimanoglou, Belén Trebino Harrington, Johanna Van Hulle, Martin Geroldinger, Nicola Lawrence, Judit Alvarez, Sebile Tchaicha and Laura Roig Casanovas – was delighted to be there and welcome you at booth 49!

It was an inspiring day of sessions, which came to a close with the ERN EpiCARE session, “ERN EpiCARE in Action: Shaping the Future of Epilepsy Care in Europe”, chaired by Maša Malenica and Eugen Trinka, and featuring Alexis Arzimanoglou, Nicola Specchio, José Ángel Aibar and Lieven Lagae as speakers.

EpiCARE is in Athens (Greece) yesterday for the European Epilepsy Congress, at the Megaron Athens International Conference Centre. Our booth (49) is all set up, and the first sessions had also begun! 🚀

Alexis Arzimanoglou and Helen Cross had the great pleasure of receiving the European Epilepsy Team Excellence Award during the Welcome Ceremony. The 16th European Epilepsy Congress in Athens is just around the corner! In less than 1 month, many of us will gather in Greece to attend the most important European congress on epilepsy.

We warmly invite you to stop by our booth 49 and meet with the entire Coordination Team, the members of the Executive Committee and leaders of the Working Groups that will be present. As you may know, coffee breaks take place daily from 11:45 to 12:15 and from 16:45 to 17:15. Lunch breaks at 13:30.

Ending September by getting to know two new WGs!

Working Group 11: Clinical Patient Management System
Case discussions are an integral part of all ERNs and are in line with the European Commission’s Directive. EpiCARE undertakes regular case discussions in specialised areas of the rare and complex epilepsy field, including surgical and non-surgical cases, neuropsychology and neuropathology.

Working Group 12: Registry
Developing a Registry for rare and complex epilepsies is a very dynamic process, with continuous challenges and needs to update and refine the content. We are confident that its creation will offer the EU epilepsy community a unique tool to support both clinical practice and research.

🍂🧠 The U-Task Epilepsy Surgery Meeting, endorsed by EpiCARE, will take place at Oslo University Hospital, Norway, on 16–17 October 2026. It will bring together multidisciplinary teams from across Europe within the ERN EpiCARE network to discuss complex paediatric epilepsy surgery cases and exchange clinical expertise. The programme (https://epi-care.eu/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/U_TASK2026_OSLO-invitation-and-preliminary-program01.pdf) will also address ongoing European multicentre research projects, observational studies and issues related to the ERN EpiCARE Registry.

The meeting aims to strengthen international collaboration, knowledge sharing and multidisciplinary decision-making in paediatric epilepsy surgery.
