A small but mighty team from our Verniolle site in France recently participated in the Toulouse Ekiden — a 42.195 km relay marathon.

The Ekiden is more than just a race, it is a collective experience where team cohesion takes precedence over individual performance. 🏃🏃‍♀️

🧱 Last Friday, we officially broke ground on a new manufacturing facility in France (La Balme-les-Grottes, Isère), dedicated to our BIOFIRE® PCR diagnostic solutions.

This site will play a key role in securing the supply of essential diagnostic solutions for the European market and supporting bioMérieux’s long-term growth.

The molecular tests produced at La Balme will enable the rapid and reliable identification of the main causes of infectious diseases.

Designed to complement our U.S.-based manufacturing operations, this new facility strengthens the resilience and agility of our global production network. It will help us better serve patients wherever they are, driven by our commitment to making the world a healthier place.

Last month, our Salt Lake City, U.S. site was named as the Community Partner of the Year by BioHive Utah! 🌟

This recognition highlights the impact our teams make in the community, including inspiring the next generation of game changers through facility tours, capstone project mentorship, and internships. By giving young people opportunities to see life sciences in action, we help them envision a future where they can make a difference. 💭

The award also recognizes the charitable work supported by the bioMérieux Endowment Fund through local organizations like Youthlinc, Rise Up School of Dance, and Utah STEM Foundation. Putting the 🐝 in bee-oMérieux

Fun fact: in addition to our 15,000+ team members worldwide, some of our sites are also home to teeny tiny workers — bees!

bioMérieux offices in locations including North Ryde, Australia; Marcy l’Etoile, Grenoble and Craponne, France; and Durham, United States, have partnered with local organizations to install beehives, which keep our sites buzzing with activity!

🍯 These hives not only produce 100% organic honey — often jarred and shared with team members or featured in café dishes and desserts — but also provide hands-on learning experiences that raise awareness about the importance of bees and the impact of climate change on our ecosystem.

This World Bee Day, we’re extra thankful for bees and the vital role these small pollinators play in supporting food supply and plant health. 🌱

When we move together, we go further 💙

Last month, around 50 members of our bioMérieux family (team members and their loved ones) took part in the 13th Madrid March Against Cancer. Some tackled the 10K, while others enjoyed the 4.5K route — two distances, one shared goal! 🏃‍➡️ 🏃‍♀️‍➡️

The march, organized by the Spanish Association Against Cancer, supports cancer research, a cause that can save lives and give hope to thousands of people.

We’re proud of our team members for coming together to run, walk, sweat, and share smiles, showing dedication to working towards a future without cancer. 🎗️

Forging a new path toward inclusion ✨

Alexandre Merieux, our Executive Chairman, recently visited the Spastic Children's Foundation of Turkey (Cerebral Palsy Türkiye - TSÇV) — a meaningful moment that marks the launch of a new project supported by the bioMérieux Endowment Fund.

Guided by the belief that inclusion begins with access, this project supports the physical, sensory, emotional, and cognitive development of 20 children with cerebral palsy, to better foster their access to education, social integration, and autonomy.

In Türkiye, approximately 6,000 children are diagnosed with cerebral palsy annually and access to equitable education remains a key challenge. In collaboration with the Spastic Children’s Foundation of Türkiye, we are taking a concrete step in supporting community health and social equity.

Together, we can build a healthier and more inclusive future. 💛

Even trainers need training! 🧠

Last month, team members from around the globe came together for a “Trainers of Trainers” experience. These individuals are responsible for teaching our partners in their local regions how to deploy and use our VITEK systems — but first, they had to fully master both the systems themselves and the skills needed to be effective trainers. ✅

By sharing experiences, aligning best practices, and building skills together, they can now ensure our partners are equipped with the knowledge and confidence they need to use our diagnostic solutions to make an impact within their organizations. 👍
