At JEC World 2026, Sicomin will place sustainability firmly in the spotlight, showcasing CMR-free epoxy systems and expanding the visibility of its bio-based resin brand GreenPoxy.

In addition to its main stand in Hall 6, Sicomin will launch a dedicated GreenPoxy stand in the Bio-Materials Village (Hall 5) hosted by JEC and the Alliance for European Flax-Linen & H**p.

Sicomin’s standalone GreenPoxy presence highlights its long-term investment in bio-based composite technologies. Representing 70% of Sicomin’s portfolio, GreenPoxy now also represents the largest range of bio-based epoxy systems on the market, supporting all manufacturing processes and serving sectors including automotive, marine, construction, sport and industrial composites.

“Natural fibres such as flax and h**p are gaining traction thanks to their versatility, lower environmental impact and strong performance,” says Ken Marcovich, CEO, Sicomin. “The Bio-Materials Village provides the ideal platform to showcase collaborative projects that demonstrate the synergy between natural fibres and bio-based resins”.

The Future is Plywood!

We are very proud to be featured in the latest issue of Seahorse Magazine, which spotlights Sicomin’s latest partnership and the launch of our new bio-based epoxy system, GreenPoxy® SR550.

The article “The Future is Plywood”, explores the Greenscow initiative, an ambitious collaboration led by Gildas Plessis, Yannick Eudeline, and the sustainable boatbuilders Kaori concept, that redefines how high-performance racing yachts can be built using epoxy-plywood composites reinforced with natural fibre like flax and basalt.

This new generation of low-carbon boats starting with the Mini 6.50 and moving on to the Imoca 60, demonstrates that sustainable materials and elite racing performance can go hand in hand. At the heart of these builds is GreenPoxy SR550, formulated by Sicomin specifically for the hand lamination of timber-and-fibre composites, combining excellent viscosity, reactivity, surface finish, and adhesion to wood fibres, all with a significantly reduced environmental footprint.

Find us at METS 2025 next week for further details on booth 11.200.

We are delighted to announce the launch of SR GreenPoxy 550 - a fully reformulated bio-based epoxy system engineered for the bonding and lamination of timber-and-fibre composites.

After an extensive R&D program, SR GreenPoxy 550 is proven to deliver the following technical advancements.

· Bio-based formulation: Derived in part from plant sources, SR GreenPoxy 550 reduces reliance on petrochemical raw materials.
· Non-CMR chemistry: A completely re-engineered formulation with a clean material safety data sheet.
· Optimised processing: Excellent viscosity and reactivity tailored to hand lamination, reducing waste compared to infusion processes.
· Mechanical performance: High strength and stiffness at room temperature, with strong adhesion to a wide range of wood substrates.
· Surface quality: Excellent finish in cured laminates, meeting the demands of performance racing yacht construction.

The product will be on display at Composite Meetings this week and METS 2025 later this month. Please DM us to hear more or book a meeting.

The Project of the Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abd Al-Aziz for Mataf Extension

We are very proud to announce our collaboration with Premier Composite Technologies, Dubai (PCT) on the Mataf Extension at the Holy Mosque of Mecca, KSA. This ambitious project incorporates extensive uses of composite materials in architecture, with the Mataf Ceiling - a structure spanning 216,800 square metres - at its core.

PCT designed, fabricated, and installed the intricate Mataf Ceiling, which spans four levels around the Mataf walkway and the sacred Kaaba. Each 12m x 3m panel, produced in Dubai, features Arabic mashrabiya patterns, ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), and engineered stone agglomerate inlays.

Composite materials were the only viable solution to meet the strict 67 kg/m² weight limit while incorporating acoustic insulation, fire protection, and integrated LED lighting. Sicomin’s SR1122 Fire Retardant Epoxy and SGi 128 Bio Gelcoat were crucial in meeting these performance demands.. To ensure seamless supply, Sicomin set up a dedicated warehouse in Dubai, helping PCT achieve peak production rates of 6,000 m² per month.

Hannes Waimer, CEO, Premier Composite Technologies: “The Mataf Extension is a landmark project, demanding a unique blend of innovative materials, precise engineering, and flawless ex*****on. Sicomin’s expertise -from custom resin development to seamless material supply - has been essential in achieving our goals.”

This groundbreaking architectural project is set for completion in Q3 2025.

See a section of the Mataf Ceiling on display on our booth at JEC World 2025, Paris next week!
