What if the French coastline could become a new source of clean energy? ☀️🌊

Meet SOLEIAU: a €1.13 million collaborative project created to prepare floating solar for real coastal conditions.

Over the next three years, we will combine physical wind and wave testing, advanced simulations and digital-twin technology to understand how floating solar platforms behave at sea—and make future projects more reliable, scalable and bankable.

Supported by France 2030 and Bpifrance through the i-Démo programme, SOLEIAU brings together:

Something exciting is coming very soon… 🌊☀️

One of the most exciting floating solar projects we have ever built is taking shape.

We cannot reveal everything just yet—but this installation marks another important step forward for HelioRec and floating solar technology.

Stay tuned. The full reveal is coming soon! 👀

🌊☀️ Our next-generation W300A floating solar system is now operating in Brest Port.

The new 10 kWp demonstrator was designed specifically for tidal nearshore and port environments — where floating solar has to operate with waves, wind, saltwater and significant water-level variations.

And it is already producing clean energy: around 300 kWh generated by 11 August (it was grid connected on 5th of August).
But this demonstrator is about more than electricity generation.

We have equipped W300A with an advanced monitoring system that continuously collects real-world data on:
🌊 Waves & sea level
💨 Wind
☀️ Solar irradiance
🌡 Air & water temperature
📐 Platform inclination
⚓️ Structural & mooring loads
All data is transmitted remotely to our dedicated dashboard, allowing our engineers to understand how the floating solar system actually behaves under real marine conditions.

For us, this is an important step toward larger coastal floating solar projects:

Generate → Monitor → Learn → Improve → Scale

The goal is clear: use real operational data to make coastal floating solar more reliable, predictable and ready for larger-scale deployment.

Can port water surfaces become a new source of clean energy? 🌊☀️

HelioRec’s Solar4Ports project has received €561,247 in non-repayable funding to develop and demonstrate a 200 kWp coastal floating solar power plant in one of France’s largest ports.

Over 24 months, the project will validate our W300A technology under real port conditions—including waves, tides, strong winds and long-term saltwater exposure.

Solar4Ports will help demonstrate how ports can:

⚡️ Produce renewable electricity locally
🌱 Decarbonise their operations
🏗 Generate energy without occupying valuable land
🤝 Access clean electricity through a Power Purchase Agreement without financing the entire installation upfront
🌍 Prepare for larger coastal floating solar projects

The project is supported by the Fonds de dotation pour la décarbonation de la filière maritime française, financed by the CMA CGM Group through its PULSE energy fund, with the grant programme managed by Bpifrance.

An important step towards a new generation of renewable-energy ports.

🌊☀️ Floating solar meets extreme conditions.

HelioRec has deployed a 2 kWp floating solar demonstrator in one of Europe’s most challenging hypersaline environments.

Unlike conventional freshwater sites, the system must withstand:

✅ Salt-saturated water
✅ Salt spray and crystallization
✅ Accelerated corrosion
✅ Strong winds
✅ Highly aggressive conditions

To improve long-term durability, our engineers selected corrosion-resistant HDPE floaters, marine-grade A4 stainless steel, EPDM insulating washers, fibre-based mooring components, salt-resistant solar modules and protected electrical connections.

This demonstrator is only the beginning. Over the coming months, we will monitor its performance and use the results to develop future commercial floating solar installations for industrial and coastal environments.

From a 2 kWp pilot to larger projects—one step at a time. 🚀

Independent validation is a major step toward making innovative technology commercially ready. 🌊☀️

We are proud to share that HelioRec’s W300A nearshore floating solar technology has successfully completed an independent technical due diligence conducted by ERM, with support from the European Investment Bank (EIB).

The assessment highlighted key strengths of our technology:

✅ Modular floating architecture and W300A floater
✅ Offshore-inspired engineering designed for marine conditions
✅ Flexible connections and distributed load transfer
✅ Practical operation and maintenance strategy aligned with marine industry practices

Importantly, no fundamental barriers to deployment were identified.

The report also defined the next validation steps: larger-scale projects, long-term operational data, additional survivability and fatigue testing, and continued material durability assessment.

This is how emerging infrastructure technologies become bankable: through independent assessment, transparent validation, and continuous testing.

As floating solar expands into ports, industrial basins, and coastal waters, solutions specifically designed for marine environments will become increasingly important.
