Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond reducing carbon emissions, it also means respecting the ecosystems where we operate.

Across our renewable energy projects, we implement measures to help renewable energy and wildlife coexist:

🌱 Protecting biodiversity. Environmental assessments help us identify sensitive habitats, migration routes, and breeding areas so that appropriate mitigation measures can be integrated throughout a project's lifecycle.

🦇 Protecting bats and birds. We monitor wildlife activity and, where appropriate, implement operational measures to reduce potential impacts on flying species.

⚙️ Smart operational management. During periods of increased wildlife activity, turbines may be operated with adapted settings or temporary curtailment when required by environmental commitments.

🐑 Working alongside local land use. Our projects are designed to coexist with agricultural activities, while respecting environmental regulations and maintaining appropriate distances.

🔒 Responsible site management. Safety measures, including secure infrastructure and regular environmental monitoring, help protect both people and wildlife throughout the operation of our sites.

The energy transition is about more than generating renewable electricity. It's about doing so responsibly, with respect for nature, local communities, and future generations.

Today, on World Nature Conservation Day, we reaffirm our commitment to delivering clean energy while respecting the natural world we all depend on.

CGNEE continues to develop its activities and increasingly adopts advanced technologies to improve the performance and reliability of its assets !

Last week, CGNEE completed a training program on drone piloting and wind turbine blade inspections using flying drones. The training combined a theoretical module, including the achievement of the official OPEN A1/A3 certificate, with a practical module covering flight exercises, maneuvering, and emergency procedures.

This increase in efficiency and accuracy allows us to spend less time on inspections and maintain performance with blades in peak conditions. We are committed to the highest standards of excellence, and with certified drone pilots onboard, CGNEE is taking wind turbine maintenance to new heights faster, smarter, and ready for the future of renewable energy.

Our engineers recently completed advanced lift training focused on Enercon wind turbine elevation systems.

The training covered verifying the proper operation of onboard sensors and equipment, mastering the SHE Rescue system and the personal evacuation devices carried by all our technicians, as well as an in-depth overview of the rotor locking system and the critical importance of braking and mechanical locking.

Safety is part of our culture because, when working at height, preparation is never optional.

An essential training program for a team that's always ready. 💪

When a serious incident occurs at a wind farm, firefighters are the first on the scene. That is why it is crucial that they are familiar with our installations and understand the specific challenges of working inside a wind turbine, enabling them to respond as safely, quickly and effectively as possible.

Last month, we welcomed the Aube Departmental Fire and Rescue Service to our Charmont Wind Farm in France's Grand Est region for a dedicated training day focused on casualty evacuation in high-risk environments.

The day was an opportunity to strengthen the close cooperation that is essential to keeping everyone safe. Through knowledge sharing, practical discussions and realistic scenarios, our teams presented the specific features of wind turbines and the conditions responders may encounter inside them. In turn, the firefighters helped raise awareness among our employees of the actions and procedures to follow in emergency situations. Several CGNEE colleagues also volunteered to play the role of casualties during the evacuation exercises.

A heartfelt thank you to the SDIS 10 Aube firefighters for their commitment, professionalism and unwavering support throughout the day. We would also like to thank our CGNEE colleagues Aude Vanrivong, Nérimène Yousfi, Paulo Ribeiro Da Silva, Lucky Yeboh, Tatiana Leyton, Gaetan Girard and Kévin Lingelser for their active participation in the discussions and exercises, helping us further strengthen our shared culture of safety.

Renewable energy is not only about turbines— it is also about the people who ensure that operations run smoothly every day, keeping teams connected and wind farms performing safely and efficiently. As part of our Powered by People series, today we are highlighting the essential contribution of our operational coordination teams through the work of Sthefanie Mendoza, Operational Controller at CGNEE.

Working in a highly international environment, Sthefanie helps supervise and monitor wind farms across Europe in real time. From coordinating with maintenance teams and asset managers to responding quickly to operational situations, her role helps ensure continuity, safety and performance across our assets.

For Sthefanie, one of the most rewarding aspects of her work is the balance between technical operations, communication and problem-solving. Every day brings new challenges, requiring teamwork, adaptability and quick decision-making. Through this daily coordination, she contributes directly to the production of cleaner energy across Europe.

Since joining CGNEE, Sthefanie has especially appreciated the company’s multicultural environment and strong spirit of collaboration. She values the many intercultural activities organized within the company, which create opportunities for colleagues from different backgrounds to connect, learn from one another and strengthen team spirit.

By supporting communication, coordination and operational reliability, teams like Sthefanie’s help build the foundations that allow renewable energy projects to operate successfully every day.

Because at CGNEE, renewable energy moves forward not only through infrastructure and innovation —but also thanks to the dedication, responsiveness and teamwork of people who quietly support our mission every single day.

🌍 What is the environment, exactly?

The environment is not only forests, oceans, or landscapes we admire from afar.

It is the air we breathe on our morning commute.
The fields surrounding our wind farms.
The communities living alongside our projects.
The biodiversity we strive to protect.
The responsibility we carry in every decision we make.

For us, the environment is a balance between energy, people, and nature. It is about creating solutions that support today’s needs while preserving tomorrow’s possibilities.

Every renewable energy project is part of a larger commitment: reducing our impact, encouraging sustainable development, and contributing to a future where economic progress and environmental respect go hand in hand.

On this World Environment Day, we reflect on the meaning of our actions and on the collective role we all play in protecting the world we share. 🌱
