A major challenge: modernizing five marinas in Calvados

Five marinas, 1.6 kilometers of docks, 170 days of work – Poralu Marine has taken on the ambitious logistical challenge of fully renovating marina infrastructure in Normandy in record time.

After working on Dives-sur-Mer between 2019 and 2021, we were once again chosen to assist with the modernization of Deauville, Dives, Grandcamp-Maisy, Isigny-sur-Mer, and Courseulles-sur-Mer.

Unlike traditional methods where landing stages are gradually replaced to limit the impact on marina operations, this time, we chose a radical approach, completely removing all existing infrastructure before replacing it.

-> And here are the results: 90% of the project completed in just 170 days with teams working six days a week!

The locations required complete renovation, with some equipment dating back to the 1980s. As part of our environmental commitments, all of the old equipment has been recycled following modernization and replaced with tried-and-tested, durable French infrastructure.

We were chosen for the relationship of trust built through our previous partnerships, thanks to our experienced team, our high-quality products, and an approach tailored to budget constraints.

We’re proud to have been chosen to play our part in this major transformation and we can’t wait to see the marinas ready for the boating season!

Until then, here’s a preview of our renovation of Deauville marina.

Binic is an iconic marina of the Côtes-d’Armor. Its authentic charm, year-round hustle and bustle, and ideal location in the heart of the town have earned it the nickname of “the beauty spot of the Côtes d’Armor”.

Since 2019, the marina’s operating company, Eskale d’Armor, has been embarked on a full renovation of its infrastructure to better respond to new user habits and improve its accessibility while maintaining its aesthetic appeal.

-> Poralu Marine is modernizing the marina’s floating infrastructure to deliver increased safety, greater comfort, and more available berths for marina users.

What are we working on?

Renovating the landing stages

Installing new dock fingers (0.75 m wide) for improved accessibility

Optimizing the number of berths with a pile guiding system

Lengthening the landing stages to create additional berths

Fitting new wood decking with non-slip resin on walkways to combine safety and visual appeal

Installing a ramp to improve access for people with reduced mobility

Binic has also adopted an exemplary environmental approach and was awarded Port Propre certification in November 2024, cementing its status as a clean harbor.

It’s a project that’s fully in line with our commitment to protecting harbors’ authenticity while adapting them to the needs of both today and tomorrow.

Thank you to Eskale d’Armor for their trust and their future-looking vision. We’re proud to support this amazing transformation!

Revitalizing the Tsui Ping River: A Landmark Project for Hong Kong 😀

→ The Tsui Ping River has undergone a significant transformation as part of the Hong Kong government's Rivers in the City initiative, with the project led by the Drainage Services Department (DSD). This redevelopment project has successfully turned a once-polluted waterway into an accessible and vibrant public space designed to enhance the well-being of residents.

→ Innovative solutions in harmony with the natural environment

Located in the Kwun Tong district, the Tsui Ping River has been redeveloped into a one-kilometre river walkway. Poralu Marine, a strategic partner in the project, played a key role by designing and constructing a bespoke floating platform and access gangways . By integrating canopies and benches onto the pontoon the entire structure contributes to creating a serene environment that integrates the river’s natural ecosystem with modern urban living.

👉 Poralu Marine’s floating docks, which rise and fall with the tides, ensure that the newly created public spaces remain accessible regardless of water level. This innovation ensures uninterrupted access to the space, making it usable throughout the year. The pontoon also incorporates “legs” which will support the structure above the riverbed ensuring routine maintenance and cleaning can continue without interruption.

→ A green urban oasis

The revitalized Tsui Ping River now offers a green river walkway and a safe, inviting space for the community. The addition of six footbridges across the river further improves connectivity between residential and commercial areas, promoting greater interaction between locals and the natural environment. 🌍 This project exemplifies a successful urban renewal effort that brings nature into the heart of the city.

😀We are proud to contribute to this transformative project, which not only supports the well-being of Hong Kong’s citizens but also prioritizes the protection of the local ecosystem.

The footbridge at Bourg de Pabos (Canada): combining heritage and environmental protection

At Bourg de Pabos in Quebec, our team has risen to a major challenge: building a floating and fixed walkway with a total length of 540 meters, linking the mainland to a historic island, with the entire project located in an area of high archaeological and environmental value.

In this history-rich site – where signs of indigenous and colonial occupation have been discovered dating back centuries – every step of the project required careful tailoring to protect the subsoil, biodiversity, and the bay’s geographic variations, which are caused by the tides. Strict construction and development rules were essential in such a protected site, ensuring the project took place in harmony with local fauna, flora, and history.

To meet local requirements, Poralu Marine designed a structure that can be fully dismantled during the winter. The aluminum bridge uses carefully selected materials to blend into the landscape. The team even worked without heavy machinery – using an ‘Egyptian-style’ site installation technique – on the first 10 meters of the project to protect the bay’s coastline and shores.

This project demonstrates our ability to work in protected areas, taking an innovative, sustainable approach that respects local heritage.

The walkway will first be used to allow work to take place on the island. It will then open to the public in 2026 so visitors can discover the island’s history at the heart of a fully energy self-sufficient tourist site.

Thank you to our team and our trusted partners for their expertise and their commitment to this unique project. 🛠️

Porto-Vecchio: reinventing an iconic Mediterranean marina!
↪️ Porto-Vecchio is a beautiful Corsican marina that is undergoing a major transformation – and Poralu Marine is proud to be playing a leading role!

This ambitious project uses our engineering, design, and manufacturing expertise and brings together local businesses to revitalize one of the island’s top harbor destinations. It’s a unique project that combines aesthetics and performance and will be capable of welcoming vessels of up to 25 meters.

➡️ Ingenuity and local synergies

The transformation involves a complete reconfiguration of the harbor. From aluminum docks to eco-friendly gray Ecodek composite decking, every component is designed to complement the natural landscape and meet local technical requirements.

Working in partnership with local experts, we have implemented measures to protect Posidonia seagrass meadows, a vital ecosystem for the Mediterranean, while adapting our schedule to the needs of the summer season.

😀 Porto-Vecchio is reinventing itself, and Poralu Marine is proud to bring this project to life alongside Corsican partners to revitalize this iconic location and restore its full functionality.

Innovation and elegance: redefining life on the banks of the Seine

A rare project is coming to life in the Île-de-France region. The Seine Parisii marina is a true architectural manifesto in which Poralu Marine has transformed the architect’s drawings into tangible reality, with visually appealing, refined structures that are in total harmony with the style of the surrounding buildings:

---> Aluminum equipment and recyclable decking, chosen for their simplicity and for their ability to blend in visually.

---> Docks and footbridges measuring 18 meters in length, with gates that have been carefully designed to reflect the project’s visual identity.

On the technical side, innovations like built-in fiber-optic cable and a multipoint wastewater collection system facilitate access for marina users and help protect the environment.

This project is a rare example of its kind in France, not only in its scale but also in its ecological and aesthetic ambition. Working closely with Urban Era, we have overcome the technical difficulties, adapting our solutions to the local architecture and ecosystems.

A new social space is emerging from the former industrial site, combining design and sustainability, offering marina users and residents a unique experience.

We are immensely grateful to our partners for their trust and for this amazing adventure at the heart of the Paris region.

This week, we’re heading to Italy and Porta a Mare (Livorno).
➡️ This is a unique site that’s exposed to the waves, and with 800 berths, its two basins can welcome a large number of vessels.

🙂 The perfect project for the experienced teams at Poralu Marine!

The project involved renovating this iconic harbor and its 2 km of docks, from the steel dock chassis to the concrete floats.

We chose to make a technological shift to a 100% aluminum chassis with exotic wood decking and polyethylene floats, which are particularly well suited to the site.

We also upgraded the entire dead weight and chain mooring system as well as the
Mediterranean-style moorings. On completion, 450 moorings (concrete blocks) and 16 km of chains have been installed on the bottom of the basins for dock anchoring and vessel mooring.

👏Congratulations to the teams on this major project!
