REVERCHON was founded in 1927 by Mr. Gaston Reverchon as a bumper car bodies factory. While manufacturing car bodies, the company has developed their first ride in 1937, the “Télécombat”, and their second ride, the “Bobsleigh”, in 1947. In 1950, the company moved to Samois-sur-Seine, south of Paris, France. The company started in 1956 to replace steel with polyester for bumper car bodies. In 1973,
Reverchon started doing business with the USA. Then in 1976, the company produced their first Log Flume. The ride was installed at Bagatelle, in northern France and is still operating to this day. In 1978, Reverchon started a world’s first with the first hydraulically mountable/dismountable structure for bumper cars. Reverchon has been divided in 1990 which ended up with two companies which were called respectively Reverchon International Design and Reverchon Industries France. Le PAL, a French amusement & animal park asked Reverchon to manufacture a roller coaster. So the company went on and they opened their first roller coaster in 1990. The ride was called “Grand 8” and was later renamed “Tigre de Sibérie”. The ride is still operating today and is a very popular ride at the park. In 1996, Reverchon has innovated once again and has mixed two popular roller coaster concepts, the Wild Mouse - which consist of small cars taking flat and tight turns - and the Virginia Reel - which was a side friction spinning wooden coaster which encountered its success at the beginning of the 20th century. So Reverchon’s new Spinning Coaster was born. The ride was a big success at the time and many units were sold around the world. In 1997, Reverchon has celebrated the manufacturing of the 100,000th bumper car. On April 18th, 1999, Kennywood, an amusement park located near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the USA, opened the first ever Reverchon Dark Ride Spinning Coaster, “Exterminator”. The ride was a standard Spinning Coaster enclosed in a building, simulating a factory over-run by mice. In 2000, Reverchon has launched the Gliding Coaster model. It is an Inverted Wild Mouse coaster. The ride is one of the few inverted coasters dedicated to funfairs. The early 2000’s marked the first collaboration between Reverchon and the Walt Disney Company. On March 31st, 2002, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, located in Florida, USA, opened “Primeval Whirl”, two Reverchon Spinning Coasters which were installed side by side. In the meantime, Reverchon developed the Junior Spinning Coaster, a smaller version of the standard Spinning Coaster. The first installation opened in February 2002 at Jardin d’Acclimatation in Paris, France. One of the latest innovations of the company happened in 2016 with the production of the Swinging Coaster. Taking the concept of Wild Mouse’s tight turns, the Swinging Coaster features swinging 4-passenger gondolas. The riders have the choice to ride either forward or backward. During the Oktoberfest 2019 in Munich, Germany, Reverchon debuted their renewed Spinning Coaster. While the ride has been updated to fit the EN13814 standard, it also now features a stall turn and the option to have a booster lift hill, which consists of a 6 m/s fast chain lift, sending the cars in a few seconds at the top of the ride. With this century of experience, Reverchon is ready to take on the most challenging projects.
