Sisal flooring in France is always on trend so we’re often asked how to clean and maintain natural fibre carpets correctly.

Sisal carpet is a beautiful, durable natural fibre flooring option — but it requires the right cleaning method to protect its texture and colour.
✨ How to Clean Sisal Flooring – Key Tips:
✅ Vacuum regularly (suction only)
Use a vacuum without a rotating brush to remove dust and grit. This helps preserve the woven fibres.
✅ Blot spills immediately
Always blot — never rub. Rubbing pushes moisture deeper into the natural fibres.
✅ Avoid water
Sisal is highly absorbent. Excess moisture can cause staining, shrinkage, or permanent water marks.
✅ Use dry-cleaning powder for stains
Choose a product specifically designed for natural fibre carpets.

Because sisal is a natural flooring material, variations in tone and weave are part of its character. With proper care and maintenance, sisal carpets can last for many years.

A small gesture from us at Jon the Carpet Man – but one we’re very happy to make. 🐾
At the end of last year we made a donation of our offcuts of carpet to help Nos Amis Pet Rescue, they made such good use of them that we are doing the same again today!
It’s a wonderful local charity doing truly important work, and we’re glad that a few of our leftover materials can be put to good use rather than going to waste.
