Trying to explain the atmosphere at last week is a hard task- the curated gallery spaces painting a picture of new, modern inspired by the past, by gentle craftsmanship and a deep rootedness in values and materials; the exhibition design, often sensorial experiences where the light and the materials come together to emphasize what could be.

Some of our favourite sights from Maison & Objet:

/ "What's new in design?" and particularly this spectacular .art bench and .group table setting
/ The stunning jungle-inspired space created by .world
/ Playful tubular lights collection from
/ The multi-layered, gorgeous stand of
/ A gorgeous ceramics collection from

We'll be back with more impressions in the next days.

Bonjour Paris! will be at MAISON&OBJET tomorrow. We're here to learn about manufacturing workflows to inform our PAW platform: an intuitive way of managing and automating craft and hands-on production.

If you'd like to share about your manufacturing processes, let's meet- DM us to book a slot.

See you tomorrow!

We're attending MAISON&OBJET in Paris next week. I'm excited for the exquisite designs and speaking to the innovative manufacturers, fabricators and artists behind them.

At PAW we are working directly with innovating and scaling sustainable manufacturing, so I couldn't be more interested in exchanging ideas and learning from some of the best brands in the world.

If you're attending- feel free to reach out, I'd love to meet.

What if technology could learn to predict and mitigate bottlenecks in your manufacturing workflow?

This is what we're building at PAW. Intuitive software that learns as you go- your workflow patterns, where disruptions, delays and money losses happen.

The first version of the platform focuses on intelligent production planning and bases its decision-making on live employee-reported data.

We're building a platform that augments production capacity. Follow along to learn more.

Adopting digital tools in manufacturing should be the same as training a new employee on the factory floor.

More manifesto-like shoulds... and we wrote a full piece on this. But here's the summary: it is quasi-impossible to build technology that can completely phase out craftsmanship. It is hard- very hard- to even create sensible technology that is actually capable of gently complementing the work of human hands. This is why industries such as fashion, textile or woodworking are not yet digitalised. Because it is hard to build technology that works alongside humans without trying to replace them.

The median, moderate approach to digitalising the process of making is that of building technology that augments- that’s capable of holding amounts of data that humans can’t quite, that’s there when you need to figure something out. On the factory floor, this gentle approach to technology, in my opinion, is make-it-or-break-it: if you’re trying to introduce technology into the production floor, it needs to be non-invasive; it needs to not overwhelm, but stir curiosity.

On the production floor, technology needs to enter some form of a learning dance with its user- the user learns that by using the technology, their tasks feel easier; technology- in the abstract- needs to slowly learn from its user, becoming, effectively, an apprentice.

Manufacturing technology should feel like magic. After almost two years, "the problem company" becomes PAW, in order to better represent our trajectory and company goals.

We have evolved from being an innovation studio working at the forefront of circularity and advanced technologies, to building our own platform dedicated to scaling our impact to the very small, small and medium manufacturers.

Our focus has always been on the part of the industry that is lacking in digitalisation- the one where experts still work with their hands, and with the material, using knowledge practiced and learnt over years. These are the companies that manufacture our shoes, our clothes, our furniture.

Working with this segment over the past years, we strongly realised that offering services is not enough. Small companies need a product that just works: that understands their custom workflows and resolves their inefficiencies, that injects advanced technology into specific pain points magically.

In order to better serve our dual goals- working at the forefront of manufacturing R&D, and making advanced technology available at scale, PAW has two branches: PAW the studio and PAW the platform.

The studio- Prototyping Advanced Workflows (PAW) will continue to provide innovation R&D services.

The Platform for Automated manufacturing Workflows (PAW) will evolve into becoming an intuitive automation platform for manufacturing SMEs. We are building deep-tech technology to lower the accessibility threshold to intelligent manufacturing solutions, especially to digital-physical workflow simplification and efficiency using advanced technology such as predictive analytics, computer vision or robotics.

Through the two branches of PAW, we aim to build a manufacturing ecosystem- one that is flexible, reconfigurable and scalable.

An ecosystem where any manufacturing company can find a custom solution for their custom workflows.

Holiday season- we're quieter, taking our time to reflect, pivot and make sure we're on the right track to serve our mission: that of making advanced technology available to the companies that need it the most- the very small, small and medium manufacturers. The people that supply our world with crafted, mindful products.

3D style transfer - research into translating style information from high-complexity 3D artifacts and transferring them to clean, NURBS structures that can easily be applied for fabrication, or even converted to parametric models.
