A wee reminder to get your boiler serviced…
Over the past week I’ve been subcontracting for a large boiler insurance company. I won’t name who it is, but it’s made me realise how many boilers are just getting the absolute basics done.
The photos below are from different houses I’ve worked in this week.
I’ve found:
* Burners badly clogged up with deposits.
* Water leaks that have clearly been there for months.
* Condensate leaks causing corrosion inside the boiler.
* Gaskets that have been leaking and went unnoticed
* Condensate traps full to the brim never been cleaned in years
These are the sort of things that don’t happen overnight. A proper service should pick up on them before they turn into a breakdown.
When I service a boiler, I don’t just turn up, do the gas readings and leave. I check the boiler over properly and, if I spot something that’s starting to fail, I’ll let you know. That way you’ve got the choice to deal with it before it becomes an expensive repair.
With winter only a few months away, now’s the best time to get your boiler serviced rather than waiting until it breaks down.
