Our colleague Kevin Moran is joining the sleepout in Aberdeen on the 14th of April to support Aberdeen Cyrenians.

Not to pretend that it will in any way replicate what people facing adverse poverty and homelessness in the Aberdeen area go through on a nightly basis, but to raise awareness and hopefully raise some much-needed funds for Aberdeen Cyrennians.

If you are able to donate, the link to the page is below.

The Tymor team is immensely proud of the support we have provided to global humanitarian charity Mercy Ships over the past eight years...
..and of the recent formalisation of our partnership through the signing of a significant Memorandum of Understanding.

Mercy Ships, an incredible organisation, positively impacts the lives of individuals, families, and communities in some of the world's most impoverished and vulnerable nations.

Through the nature of the naval architecture, structural analysis and survey work we have donated over the years, we have developed a close relationship with the Africa Mercy and her dedicated crew. It is always a privilege to learn more about the work they do and the people they have been able to help.

Today at Tymor, we’d like to celebrate one formidable woman who helped make our marine tech possible.

Grace Hopper (1906-1992) was an accomplished mathematician who joined the Navy as a Lieutenant, where she became a computer programming pioneer who used her theory of machine-independent programming to create the first computer compiler, and then the first English-like programming language.

She enabled the programming languages of today, such as the ones we use in our marine technology.

She was promoted up the Navy ranks to Rear Admiral and was awarded the Defense Distinguished Service Medal for her lifelong achievements.

She was also the first woman to hold the title of distinguished fellow (oh the irony!) of the British Computer Society.

As a company determined to move the naval/marine industry into a new era of technology, we must acknowledge the women in industry who broke the mould.

We hope we can continue with Grace’s outlook –
‘The most dangerous phrase in the language is, “we’ve always done it this way”.’

We are delighted to launch our new innovative digital technology, DeadW8.net, to improve the monitoring and control of vessel deadweight. Using data acquisition and analysis to increase understanding of stability, with reduced costs.

Having received our first order from an international offshore drilling contractor, we are also donating the technology to our long-standing maritime charity partner Mercy Ships for use on their new build hospital ship Global Mercy.

Another addition to Tymor's digital toolbox as we strive to .

Maritime technology has always been a major part of Tymor's growth strategy and as part of that, we recently added to our in-house software development team. Satya Tamalampudi and Jehanzeb Mobarik have both joined after graduating with first-class honours degrees in computer science from Robert Gordon University. Satya is based in our Aberdeen office and Jozi is based in our Glasgow office.

As well as our in-service stability measuring software, MOSIS, the team are also developing additional software systems, focused on providing practical solutions for vessel owners and crews.

Follow Tymor Marine to keep up to date with our upcoming developments.
