Our Aberdeen Football Club mascot Robbie the Ram was recently spotted helping out at a Fair Play For All event, established by the AFC Women’s Team partners, Boskalis, Taqa and GAC. The initiative was set up to make a meaningful difference to Aberdeen communities, using the power of football to engage youngsters in fun-filled activities that develop life skills.

80 children from four primary schools across Aberdeen City and Shire got the chance to move around four stations: football coaching, mindset mental health empowerment, STEM activities, first aid and accident prevention games.

It was great to receive an update from Sport Aberdeen about their ‘Learn To Ski’ programme that we’re proud to sponsor. The free six-week course is being rolled out across 20 primary schools in Aberdeen. The initial selection process involved schools within the city’s regeneration areas, and this has now been extended to include Holy Family, Middleton Park, Bramble Brae, Heathryburn, Cornhill, Fernielea and Forehill.

All of the kit required is provided by Sport Aberdeen, as is the transport to and from the schools. By removing the barrier of cost, pupils now have the opportunity to learn a new skill that can boost confidence and wellbeing. To date, 16 classes from 14 schools have taken advantage of this new experience, with over 460 children spending a total of 96 hours on the slopes. Well done to everyone involved!
