Could your heating system be putting buyers off your property?
This was one of the questions Neil Massie, Estate Agent at RE/MAX Aberdeenshire, put to Stuart Sugden in a recent conversation about property.
Stuart shared the story of a homeowner whose large, well-presented property with beautiful gardens and great views, sat on the market for nearly two years.
So why wasn’t it selling?
With electric storage heaters costing around £9,000 per year to run, buyers were being put off by the property's running costs and EPC rating.
After upgrading to a ground source heat pump, the property sold within a month.
It's a great example of how renewable heating can do more than reduce energy bills. As buyers become increasingly conscious of running costs and energy efficiency, upgrading your heating system could make your home more attractive when it comes time to sell.
