An honest day's manual turning! Improvise some guards, pull up a chair, get stuck in. 5 off in EN24T, 220mm dia stock reduced to 200mm, then a 95 dia x 45 long boss roughed on.
A wheelie bin full of tough blue chippings and some progress on a rather special project. More later.

Not our usual line of work, but we have the Huron MU6 Universal milling machine for this very sort of thing.

The A-M Vantage Virage pump is now a lot happier! The body was bored out to take a more readily available seal from a well-known 5.3 V12, quality NKE Austria bearings, the impeller was gently warmed to assist in getting the locking screw to line up and find its threads, its turned out nicely with a healthy amount of seal drag.

We have seen one before so we know the score on these, this one probably couldn't be heard over the engine and exhaust noise!

Back to the future.

Haven't rebuilt a Jaguar all-synchro gearbox for a while, this is a very nice condition JBN overdrive version going into an ex-Police S-type.

Anyone familiar with these will know what a huge win this is at the start of the stripdown (yes the clutch fork screw was broken off as per usual but amazingly unscrewed with a 3mm hex bit driven into it)

A full rebuild ahead with new baulk rings, bearings, needle races and countershaft, ready to take the reconditioned overdrive.

A fine way to start the new year!
A set of 9Jx21" Bentley wheels, which have the centre knave - secured by 4 off M5x1 Titanium screws - covering the wheel bolts.
Which the wheel fitters had kindly drilled the heads off or broke, then refinished the wheels, before they came to us.

Not our usual line when it comes to specialist automotive repair work*
Steering box from the ex-TWR BMW E12 racing saloon circa 1977, actually a modified E9 (CSL) ZF/Gemmer manual unit, presumably chosen for its higher rate.
Basically irreplaceable, prior damage due to poor workmanship sometime in the last 40+ years.
Damaged needle races removed, outsourced hd metal laser welding to repair one pitted worm bearing track and then reground by us, badly turned (tapered!) sector shaft also reground parallel, solid bronze bushes to suit.
Reshimmed and ready to race again.
*Pre 1960's Burman Douglas bronze nut steering is our speciality, we hold all the original Leone tooling, casting patterns etc with the exception of Series 1 Land Rover, but we can get those on request.
