This is a common concern we hear from people interested heat pumps for both domestic and commercial uses.

HEAT PUMPS DO STILL WORK EFFECTIVLY IN THE COLD!

Even when it’s frosty outside, your heat pump can still produce enough heat for your system.

There is still energy that can be found in the cold, the heat pump takes the thermal energy from its source, and uses that to heat refrigerant, which the system them compresses. Compressing the refrigerant increases the temperature significantly, so it becomes warm enough to meet your business’ heat needs. Heat pumps are a popular heating system choice in areas like Sweden and Norway who have far colder winters than us.

Are you a little curious about Heat Pumps?

Evan Davis and Bean Beanland (Director for Growth & External Affairs at Heat Pump Federation) have created a podcast designed to answer any and every Heat Pump question you could possibly have. Their episodes so far range from ‘What about noise? ARE THEY LOUD?’ to ‘Will I be forced to install a heat pump?’

You can get those questions answered by listening on Spotify and Youtube, and you can chat with us about your commercial heat and chill needs here: https://www.calibrateenergy.co.uk/contact/

Have you wanted to know everything there is to know about the National Grid?

Kate Morley, a software engineer, has created National Grid Live, a website that tracks the input and output minute by minute from the National Grid. This website accurately shows the how much of the Grid is being powered by fossil fuels, renewables and other sources like nuclear and biomass. This is a fantastic tool to use when you're looking to move to Net Zero, to give you a better understanding of where the energy you use for your business comes from.

If you're interested in visiting the site, please follow this link: https://grid.iamkate.com/

With the start of a New Year, we move one step closer to the UK Government's 2050 deadline for Net Zero. Net Zero can be a daunting concept, but it really starts with analysing where your carbon emissions are coming from.

Calibrate are able to offer a full service, creating feasibility studies to see what your sustainable options are, the installation of the heat pump or CHP system, an analytics and monitoring service to ensure your assets are working as required, and a managed service requirement to ensure your system is achieving the best COP possible.

We held our first Net Zero Networking event at Durham Cricket thank you to everyone who came! The morning started with a great presentation from zed. & Silcock Leedham's Jason Richards, Stephen Cresswell from Carbon Zero Consulting, Matt Chadbourn from Synergie Environ, and our very own Nick Mather. After, we networked and worked together to help attendees brainstorm ideas on a sustainable way to achieve Net Zero for their businesses. We all need to be Bold and Ambitious to reach our Net Zero goals.

We would like to send a big thank you to the local networks that supported our event: EMN, NOF and the North East Automotive Alliance, and Dionne Kingsley from RMS Resource Management Solutions NE Ltd for taking the lovely group photo.
