Another section of a project in Haggerston nearing completion. Specialist lime and pigments are being used on this job to ensure a match to the existing mortars. Works carried out include stone replacement alongside repointing works. As it’s an older farm building there’s been quite a lot of pests using the missing mortar and stone as access to the building, thus causing even more damage internally. Further updates to follow.

What an absolute gem we found today onsite! With works coming to a close on the Old Mill Wall we did an inspection of the foot bridge. To our absolute delight, Jonny noticed this piece just sticking out the bank side. It appears to be one of the original mill stones that’s been discarded and found its way to the river. We’ve retrieved the piece and taken it to the community village shop to be displayed for everyone to look at and enjoy.

A fantastic project now nearing completion. On time (including the extra works) and in budget. Northumberland Estates kindly granted access ro allow this project to happen so it was only right that the new timber was purchased from their sawmill. Nice to be able to keep the works local. Only the top to the wall left to do alongside some haunching. It has been a pleasure to work on.

Works are progressing well at Lesbury on the Old Mill Wall. This elevation is now complete, the vegetation has been removed and we are ready to move onto some repairs. Additional works have been instructed by the Parish Council to replace the oak beam which extends the job for us and secures the integrity of the wall in to the future.

Work continues in to the next phase at the old bridge at Berwick. There’s not been much time spare to complete other projects. However, the opportunity to use a piece of the damaged stone from the bridge couldn’t be passed up. This stone is an original, after 400 years of battering it’s no longer structurally viable and needed to be replaced. Destined for landfill it’s been given a new lease of life, carved by me for a local home.
