At SMI we’re passionate about supporting our Armed Forces and have demonstrated that commitment by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. We are also proud to have been recognised as Bronze Award holders in the Defence Employer’s Recognition Scheme. We have pledged to support the employment and training of ex-service personnel, support for Reserve Forces and Cadet Organisations and to show our commitment to National Events, such as the Poppy Appeal, Remembrance and Armed Forces Day.
We appreciate the benefits of employing ex-service personnel in our team and utilise specialist websites to advertise opportunities to ex service personnel looking to transition to civilian life, as well as their families. We are always keen to receive applications from ex-service personnel and members of Reserve Forces and Cadet organisations.
We also provide additional leave to those in Reserve Forces and Cadet Organisations to ensure they are able to undertake regular training, camps and courses.
This week our leadership team, demonstrating our energetic and collaborative core values, took time out to see what they could learn from the British Army, taking part in a series of activities designed to encourage collaboration and communication within a team, as well as providing an opportunity to test individual leadership, resilience and communication skills. Each activity was facilitated by Army personnel, both regulars and reserves, drawn from a wide cross section of the Army and showcasing their skills, knowledge and experience. The team even had to prepare lunch from army rations. Plenty of smiles and bruises and some valuable learning to take home.
