• Skilled Groundworks Labourer

You’ll be part of an experienced, well-established squad working across a range of roadworks projects, with steady work and reliable hours.

📍 Location: Bellaghy base –with pick-ups along the route from Toome, Antrim and Ballymena areas
📍 Work Location - generally from Antrim to Belfast

After what feels like rain every single day of 2026, our teams are absolutely delighted to be working in a bit of sunshine today! ☀️

Spirits are high on site and there’s definitely a spring in our step as we look ahead to brighter days (at last!). We’re sure plenty of our fellow construction colleagues can relate — it’s been a wet start to the year for everyone in the industry.

𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗹𝗮, 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿

"A hands-on career in construction felt like the right fit from the start. I’ve always been drawn to building sites, even as a child, and the practical nature of construction really suits how I learn and who I am.

Construction has always been part of my life. I grew up around builders - from chats about plans and schedules to muddy boots at the back door! I’ve also had the chance to help build my local club’s ball wall, which I really enjoyed and which confirmed that this is the career path for me.

As an apprentice, I’m focused on learning as much as possible on site and linking that experience with what I’m studying at college. My goal is to build up strong skills and qualifications that I can carry throughout my career, with a particular interest in site engineering and site management.

With my Dad, Granda and Uncles all working in construction, I’ve been inspired to follow in their footsteps — and I’m excited to see where this journey with Scullion Civils takes me."

We’re delighted to welcome Michaela McGleenon, who has recently joined us as a Groundworks / Civil Engineering Apprentice.

Michaela is studying a HLA in Construction and Engineering Management at South West College and has chosen to start her career via the apprenticeship route and is already gaining hands-on experience on site, working alongside our experienced team and learning a wide range of groundworks skills.

As a woman starting out in a traditionally male-dominated industry, Michaela’s journey highlights the growing opportunities within construction for anyone with the drive to succeed.

With Apprenticeship Week taking place this week, her story is a great example of how apprenticeships offer a practical and rewarding route into skilled careers.

We’re proud to have Michaela on board and look forward to supporting her as she develops her skills and builds her career with us 💪
