Keptie works

Whilst not what we envisioned to be doing , we are currently on course to complete this project in a very short turnaround.

With the scaffolding due to be removed next week , this building has been galvanised , re-structured and reinforced to again stand tall for another 100+years .

This building was in danger of collapse with mass movement in historic chimneys , gable ends and 20 +years of water ingress rotting the stone and the cement patches all over helping to accelerate the diminishing stonework .

We’ve left no stone unturned , replacing stones where needed , restructuring the roof to provide adequate protection to walls and create much less maintenance for decades to come .

This wasn’t expected and we have a dedicated team , for whom are nursing tiring bodies to make this property great again and also enhancing its body internally to stand tall again .

We’ve all been pushing extremely hard to turn this one around in a relatively small timeframe with our blends of B and R Operatives, and also the dedicated bonafide sub contractors we continually use due to their own highly skilled workmanship and eye for detail .
Helping us all to create a construction art-form to be proud of .
We all take pride in our works , we like to raise the bar , we wouldn’t do it otherwise and we hope after all the diversions made, to allow us all to work around the public , that you love it aswell .
We are looking to drop the scaffolding by Friday ,
Good , bad and the ugly , your comments are welcomed .

Apprentices update

These two gentlemen are working hard on their skills , learning well at college .

They are also both learning building in a different nature on-site ,and seem to be grasping all with both hands .

I for one better watch myself , these lads are after my job .

Stop just covering up !!

We were called to this project to undertake roofing and repoint works , but with closer assessment this building caused a grave danger to the public and residents inside .

With excessive movement in the walls , decay and uneducated historic trades causing the damages .

Too many trades are opting for the “just cover it up “ method ,causing all to suffocate these breathing structures and begin the rot process throughout .

Survey , diagnose ,repair and restore must be the only method and using the correct procedures and methods .

Locally our buildings around us ,are needing restored for them to live for another generation and beyond .

There is a lack of education in this around us, Dave from down the road that does everything is not the answer .

We are pushing hard to complete this project with the arms and legs in which this has grown into .

This will not disappoint , once again standing proud for many of years going forwards .

We are using traditional methods ,
With modern engineering to restructure this build supporting its body .

We’ve found a high volume of cement materials , blocked chimneys from uneducated trades and many years of water ingress culminating in rot throughout.

Our share of roofers, joiners and builders will complete these works .
Don’t just cover up an expect the issues to go away .

A great mason once said:
“What we build is a monument to ourselves.”

Stone doesn’t rot.
It doesn’t rust.
And if it’s done right, it will outlive us all.

The pyramids still stand.
Cathedrals still stand.
Old stone walls in small towns still stand.

A man recently told me his father was a mason.
His dad’s gone now…
but the stonework he built is still standing.

That’s the strange beauty of this trade.

One generation lays the stone.
The next generation walks past it.

Today it’s me on the wall.
And right beside me… my son learning the same craft.

One day these stones will still be here.
And maybe someone will say the same thing about us.

One generation lays the stone.
The next generation learns how.
