Due to internal promotions, we are looking to recruit an experienced Surfacing Foreman to join our established machine gang.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, reliable, and based within a 30-mile radius of our Ashburton office, with a full UK driving licence.

The successful candidate will have:

✅ Proven experience leading a team on site
✅ Strong experience working with and around paving machines
✅ Solid understanding of levels, falls, drainage, and material specifications
✅ Excellent health & safety awareness
✅ Ability to read and interpret site drawings, method statements, and risk assessments
✅ Good overall understanding of site compliance and standards

We are looking for a Surfacing Supervisor to join our friendly, well-established team.

Based in Ashburton, Devon Tarmasters has been operating for over 30 years, building a strong reputation for being flexible, reliable and professional. We are looking for someone who shares those values and wants to be part of a hardworking team.

𝙀𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙧𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙤𝙡𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨:

☑️ Full UK driving licence
☑️ CSCS card (SSSTS preferred)
☑️ Good knowledge of the asphalt / surfacing trade
☑️ Ability to read site drawings and maps
☑️ Ability to measure areas during pre- and post-site visits
☑️ Strong communication skills when dealing with customers, suppliers and colleagues
☑️ Confident using a computer, with a good standard of literacy

Full training will be provided. Above all, we are looking for someone with a can-do attitude who works well as part of a team.

What a difference a day (or two!) makes 😍

This driveway in Dartington is a great example of restoring a well used access road back to its former beauty!

The original surface had started to break up and lose it's strength, so we planed off the old asphalt material, to create a clean and solid base. From there, our team installed a smart, durable surface course that will stand up to years of use.

A simple process done properly can make a huge difference, both in appearance and longevity - and that's where we come in!

Days, nights, weekdays and weekends – we’re here when you need us 🤩

We’re not sure who else noticed (we definitely did 😅), but the new year brought 40 consecutive days of rain – making it incredibly difficult to plan a smooth and consistent works programme.

Despite the weather doing its very best to slow things down, the team have pulled together over the past few months to keep this fantastic local project at Armada Way, Plymouth moving forward. With just one surface course shift left, we’re proud to be delivering it in a timely manner – making the most of all 168 hours in a week when needed 😄

It hasn’t always been easy, but it's what we do!

Happy Monday all! We hope you stayed warm, dry and safe over the weekend ☔️

We’re no strangers to a good old storm. Back in November, we were busy battling the elements in Higher Wycombe, delivering a brand-new doubles and singles court at UK PADEL Holmer Green.

For this project, we completed both the groundworks and surfacing package, delivering a streamlined and well-communicated project from start to finish 🤝

Works included:

✅ Excavation of trench lines for ring beams
✅ Muckaway of all spoils from site
✅ Installation of ring beam timber shuttering
✅ Installation of reinforced steel concrete mesh
✅ Completion of concrete pour to ring beams
✅ Supply and installation of a porous sub-base and open asphalt for optimum drainage qualities

We loved working on this project and have a couple more in the pipeline — let’s just hope the weather is a little kinder to us by then!

As storm Goretti makes its way across the UK, we thought our first post of 2026 should bring a bit of sunshine! ☀️

Towards the end of last year, we had the pleasure of working at this beautiful home in Yelverton, restoring the property’s sweeping driveway to its very best.

🤝 Plane the existing driveway and removed all spoils to a licensed tip.
🤝 Supply and lay a 30mm PSV surface course for a durable, high-quality finish.
