Had a first yesterday.

While sitting in the sauna after a heavy leg session at the gym. I got to talking with other people, a lad there was an apprentice spark and we were discussing how things have changed over the years. Mentioned I run my own business and do custom vehicle work.

The lads dad looks across and goes “are you Atherton Creative Engineering?”

“Yeah that’s me” I reply

“I follow you on socials and have to say your work is absolutely stunning! You really do some amazing work and love seeing what you do”

The guy next to him then asks about us saying he may have a small job for us and the original guy says “find him on social media and look at his stuff, you won’t go wrong, his work is top notch”

It really was such an unexpected compliment, in an environment where I would never expect to be recognised for what we do. Just goes to show that our work and approach to it is seen by people. With the message that I strive so hard to put across.

We produce quality work, helping others, making sure our work speaks for itself.

So to Lee, thank you. It really made my day.

Sorry if anyone has been trying to get hold of us the last week and not had any joy.

We’ve been on a very well deserved and long overdue holiday as a family. A wonderful week of adventures and theme parks creating special memories has been had.

Back in today and trying to get our feet under ourselves. So if you have been trying to get hold of me, we are back here and ready!

Being the northwests leading motorcycle engineer means we undertake a vast range of work.

From welding repairs to custom fabrication, we are also known to do some spanner twirling too.

This customers bike had a defect in the frame meaning it had to be rebuilt onto a replacement supplied by the customer.

Completely stripped down and rebuilt, while we were at it, we fitted the new parts the customer supplied.

Consisting of

💥radiator guard,

💥integrated rear light

💥new levers

💥brand new exhaust system (which was a complete 💩 to fit, Chinese tolerances at work. Looked and sounded great once on)

💥 new battery

Other work carried out -

💥Coolant was flushed out and fresh put in.

💥Chain adjusted and lubed (advised it would need replacing soon) rear seat latch issue fixed with new cable fitted.

💥 with going through the bike completely we also noticed that the near side fork seal was weeping. That’s going to be sorted by Kais suspension as they will be setting the bike up.

Bike rides fantastic, dead light and with that new system it shouts!!!!!! It’s the owners first sports bike and we know he’s going to have loads of fun in this weather!!!!

WEBSITE UPDATED

With everything that has been going on in the background. Our website was the last thing on our minds. Thanks to the fog slowly lifting it was time to address that elephant in the room.

While dropping off Mini boss No1 at school this morning.

She piped up “what’s your van called daddy?”

I told her it was a Renault Trafic

“No daddy what’s it called”

Which I couldn’t answer as it’s always just been the van. Which is odd as other vehicles in the past have had names, bikes certainly have.

I had a think and said “well the model begins with T, so let’s pick a girls name that begins with that. How about Tracy?”

“No”

“ How about Theresa?”

“No”

“How about Tinkerbelle?”

“ yes daddy!!!!! Tinkerbelle the van”

So there we have it. Tinkerbelle the van. As Named by Octavia Age 5 and 11/12ths

Bear with me guys.

I’ve been doing my absolute best to work through the backlog from not being in for nearly two weeks with family stuff. For all that know, thank you for your kind words of support and understanding, it’s been a hard journey.

Word is getting out we can make aluminum stairs! Set number 4 (I think) honestly not the most enjoyable job to be doing in this heat. But you can’t deny they look AWESOME! Just some shiny staino handrailing to go on them next (which we love doing)

It’s the first proper job I’ve used the new Lincoln (separate post) set on, have to say it’s performed amazingly considering the disgusting temperatures it’s been in the unit. Really impressed me.

I’m not shy about the fact I do not enjoy doing car body repair.
A I don’t wanna be getting covered in dirty rusty metal

and

B (most importantly) people don’t appreciate the work as it’s just “a little bit of welding”

Well the first pic is the sort of work that most people will be left with. Substandard work, inferior welding and a ton of bog.

This lovely California MX-5 is the pride and joy of a very close friend who has helped me in ways I’m eternally grateful for. So when I was asked if I could fix it, the answer was yes and I made sure to give her pride and joy the treatment it deserved.

All the old crap cut off and filed in the bin.

New repair panels made from scratch to match contour of the body and arches.

All rust treated and painted before fitment of panels, panels also painted on rear to aid in their longevity.

Spot welded, welded, dressed back with a light coat of paint ready for the paint shop in a few weeks.

I really enjoyed this, was able to carry out the work correctly, got to use skills and machinery that don’t get used often enough and helped a friend out too.

While it was in, it also had a service, new rear discs and pads. As well as being cleaned underneath and waxoiled. Can’t wait to see it back from the paint shop in all its glory!
