Another early morning collection from Acton in London to remove the last pieces from this redundant factory. This included an old milk tanker and the weighbridge!

🚧 Another successful contract lift completed in the big smoke! 🏗️💪

Today one of our teams carried out a full contract lift using an AT4 tower crane to safely lift a 2.3-tonne AHU onto the roof of this building. This marks our third visit to this site, and it’s great to see the project progressing! 👏

The job also included taking delivery of the AHU into secure storage before using our Volvo to deliver the plant along with 3 x 1m mats ready for the lift.

📌 Boom Deflection: The Hidden Factor in Every Crane Lift

When you plan a lift, you calculate weight, radius, and capacity — but do you fully factor in boom deflection?

Here’s the simple breakdown:
✅ It’s the downward bend of the crane boom under load. Even with no load, some minor sag exists.
✅ Why it matters:
🔹 Shifts the actual load radius further out than your measured radius
🔹 Reduces the crane’s effective capacity
🔹 Can cause sudden load swing or loss of stability if unaccounted for
✅ Key rule: The longer the boom, the greater the deflection — even with lighter loads.

💡 Pro tip: Always reference your crane’s load chart for deflection data, and build extra margin into your lift plan.

Safety isn’t optional — it’s calculated. 🛡️

Another one on the move! 💪

DLR Industrial Services has successfully relocated another 30-tonne tank across the country, helping to keep specialist distribution transport moving safely and efficiently.

Our new 4-axle step frame trailer made light work of this oversized load, proving it’s a fantastic addition to the fleet for heavy and abnormal load transport.
