This is an oldie but a goodie. It's just come up on my memories, and it's great, but it is also that time of year. You do need to try and book in early to get your chimney swept. Every year gets busier, and there are longer waits. People leave it until the last minute or start to try and use their unit, their stove, and find out that the chimney is blocked With nests or it's not functioning properly because they haven't done the maintenance.

parts may need replacing, such as:
- flue liners
- baffles
- glass
- doors seals checked and changed If needed

give your sweep a call now, before the mad rush when everybody wants it done yesterday!

Plenty of good sweeps around in the area. And plenty of customers end up whinging when they've got to wait a fortnight instead of being able to get them within a day or two!

Had a fabulous weekend looking at lots and lots and lots of new stoves and fires at the industry trade show in Doncaster

We haven't had a trade show like this in the UK for about eight years and it was so nice to meet up with a lot of contacts and friends I haven't seen in a long time.

Hunter Halo Radial Stove - a 4.9kw freestanding cylinder stove (wood burning only.)

Crikey - I put this through it's paces !

Typically, I'm not a huge fan of really tall glass cylinder stoves as they can be impractical and awkward for new stove owners to use. Really, this is normally due to human error and failure to follow instructions or read the manual....

However, this one was a bit of an eyeopener. No matter what I threw at it, this one fought back and well deserves it's place. Superb stove at super price point for what it is.

I have to say, it proved impressive .... So much so that they've actually done two videos on this. There's a further one for follow-up....

Training the chimney sweeps "young" !

Don't wait until winter when you are desperate to use it and everybody else and their brother is in a queue in front of you.....

Far easier to get your stove serviced and your chimney swept now, up and ready for the forthcoming season before you hit a rush or cold weather.

Maintenance and advanced preparation is key is key. Those who wait a long time to replace parts and try to do so at the start of the season may find that there's a shortage in some parts, especially in older stoves, and it isn't always as easy as you think it could be.

Now is also the perfect time to arrange your wood for delivery for next season. You've got the good weather to stack it and plenty of nice summer weather for it to dry out adequately should it need a little more time.

Are you needing to do a few stove repairs ?

Don't leave it until next winter season ... it'll only make you angry when you come to want to use your wood burning / multi fuel stove and find you have to wait to get the right parts.... or your oil boiler has broken down and you've not done the needed servicing that should have been done on your stove !

Now is the time for :

chimney sweeping to be done
doors / glass to be re-roped
any worn or damaged parts repaired or replaced.

Leave it, and you'll forget..... Human nature and has a habit of biting your bum later in the year.

Here, I'm repairing a broken firebrick panel for a Hwam-UK-IE 3110C wood burning stove - as it's a fairly expensive part and this item after repair should have a good year or two (or three) more use in it yet.

We had really good fun a month or two ago cooking steaks on our cast iron Hellfire Grill Base inside one of the wood burning stoves at Natural Heating

It was totally unplanned… and the visit was unexpected. A steak came out the freezer and before he knew it, dinner was served !

Vince is much like Mary Poppins. Arrives when I least expect it… but we always have SO much fun ….
