This is a very responsible role and a great opportunity for an individual to make a real difference in a very small company. The job involves feeding plastic for recycling onto the conveyor to either the granulator or shredder. You will be moving materials from the yard to the unit, keeping production running smoothly and efficiently, at key operational levels (often one tonne per hour), changing bags of finished product and weighing and marking. There are also some very basic paperwork requirements. A FLT license would be of real benefit.

Be kind 🙏🏻

I often write my blogs for the benefit of the Google bots. It works, to a certain extent, because we definitely get traffic to our website.

However, it dawned on me that my genuine passion for recycling and the environment means that, just maybe, I know and do things that others don't.

We, along with others in the industry, are calling for a long overdue review from government. If you care about our planet and can spare 2 minutes to sign the petition it will all help.

We are trying to ensure that our plastic recycling is not fraudulently or carelessly shipped overseas and that the long term effect will be better UK infrastructure to deal with our own plastic recycling.

This 2019 survey estimates that nearly 550,000 tonnes of plastic were collected for recycling in 2018 from UK households. This included 371,000 tonnes of plastic bottles, 157,000 tonnes of plastic pots, tubs and trays, and 21,000 tonnes of plastic film.

RECOUP has issued its UK Household Plastics Collection Survey, a report for those working in household plastics waste and the recycled plastics value chain.

Well done Morrisons!

Morrisons has removed black plastic from all of its own brand food and drink packaging. The move accounts for almost 4000 tonnes of plastic being made more easily recyclable – which is 7.4 per cent of the plastic used at Morrisons each year.
