Little things behind the scenes.

Big things for me.

One thing I’m really pleased about lately is seeing the team evolve.

Kyle joined us recently because he wanted to learn, challenge himself and keep improving. That attitude means a lot to me because skills can be taught, but wanting to learn has to come from the person.

At the same time, we’ve been investing heavily behind the scenes.

New workwear.

New tools.

New van stock.

New storage systems.

New cleaning equipment.

The sort of things most customers will never notice.

But they’re the things that give people the best chance of doing a great job.

If you’re going to grow a team, grow it properly.

The No Bodge way.

The Long Way Round.

Take your time.

Build the foundations first.

One thing I’ve learned from these van chats over the last year is that they’re never really about building work.

They’re about life.

The messages I get are often from people saying they thought they were the only ones struggling, worrying, learning, trying to improve or work things out as they go.

The truth is, we’re all figuring it out.

I’m no different.

I don’t pretend to have all the answers.

I just keep turning up, keep learning and keep trying to move forward.

So thank you to everyone who watches these little chats, sends a message, shares a thought or follows along.

We’ll keep building.

We’ll keep learning.

And we’ll see where the journey takes us. Would you do talks on camera ??

Sometimes I sit there wondering if all the pressure, overthinking, setbacks, long days, and constant graft are actually leading somewhere.

Trying to grow a business properly.
Trying to make the right decisions.
Trying to build something solid without cutting corners.
Trying to hold standards together when it would be easier to give up or just do things the easy way.

And I know a lot of people feel exactly the same right now. Quietly carrying pressure nobody sees.

But one thing I’ve learned is this:
the people who eventually get somewhere usually aren’t the loudest, the luckiest, or the most talented.

They’re the ones who just kept going.

One more early morning.
One more setback.
One more lesson.
One more attempt.

That’s the long way round.

Not glamorous.
Not instant.
But real.

So if you’re doubting yourself lately, this is your reminder not to stop in the middle of the journey.

You might be far closer than you think.

I just want to highlight something.

This side of business is probably the most stressful part of all of it.

The decisions behind the scenes.
The risk.
The finance.
The responsibility.
The overthinking.
The pressure of trying to grow properly without making one bad move that affects everything else.

This is the part that genuinely makes or breaks businesses.

Most people only ever see the finished result.
Very few see the pressure behind the decisions that got them there. Today was supposed to be my day off.

Me and Jo up the allotment.
Fresh air.
Bit of peace.
Talking about planting, soil, what we’re doing next and trying to switch off from work for five minutes.

Instead, most of the day ended up being spent filling out finance forms, chasing people back, running numbers and trying to get things moving behind the scenes for the business.

17.9% APR.

A while back it was 9.9%.

Apparently I’ve got good credit.
Apparently the business is doing well.
Accounts always done properly.
Bills always paid on time or before they’re due.

Makes you question things sometimes.

You try to build properly.
You try to grow carefully.
You try not to rush decisions or get carried away.
And somehow it still feels like you’re battling uphill.

People see growth online and think it’s exciting all the time.

Truth is, a lot of it is stress, pressure, overthinking decisions and trying not to make expensive mistakes that affect your family, your team and everything you’ve spent years building.

But standing still isn’t the answer either.

So we keep going.

The long way round was never about shortcuts.
It was about building something real, properly, one careful decision at a time.

No Bodge.
Even with life decisions.

Every new project is another chance to raise the standard.

Cleaner starts.
Better organisation.
More planning.
Less stress for the customer.

We’re not interested in rushing in, making a mess and “getting it done.”
We want every job to feel controlled from day one — from protecting the property, to keeping the site tidy, to thinking ahead before problems happen.

The goal is simple:
be the cleanest, most organised, most reliable team we can possibly be.

Real work.
No bodge.

Most people only see the finished jobs.
The tidy photos. The fresh paint. The final reveal.

What they don’t see is the thinking behind it all.

The conversations.
The sleepless nights.
The overthinking every decision because you care that much about getting it right.

Lots going on behind the scenes at the minute.
Building better systems. Better organisation. Better standards.

New equipment.
New van setups.
New cleaning gear.
New processes.

Not because we’re trying to look bigger.
Because we’re trying to work better.

Spoke to regular clients before making moves.
Ran decisions past people I trust.
Triple-checked everything.

Because when you build something properly, you don’t rush it.

Anyone can grow fast.
The hard part is growing carefully without losing what made people trust you in the first place.

That’s the mission.
Same standards. Better systems. Stronger team.

No bodge. Ever.
