Over the weekend, for the 6th year running, our Finance Director Anne put on a bigger show than Storm Boelo, organising the annual Marie Curie Ladies Lunch in Glasgow.

The cause means a great deal to Anne personally. When she’s not running the numbers at Peacock, she’s busy pulling this event together, and every year it shows.

The Peacock ladies were delighted to go along and support her. It was a fantastic day of food, drinks, dancing, entertainment and shopping, all in aid of a cause close to all our hearts.

Well done, Anne, and thank you to everyone who came along and gave so generously.

You can take Gemma out of the office, but you can't take the salt enthusiast out of Gemma. Last week she swapped the desk for Krakow, taking in the Wieliczka Salt Mine and the old graduation towers at nearby Ciechocinek .

Fun fact: the mine has been in operation for over 700 years and plunges deeper underground than the Eiffel Tower is tall - that’s the kind of heritage and scale even we can admire.

From underground chapels carved entirely from salt to timber towers once used to extract it, it's safe to say Poland takes salt just as seriously as we do.

The clocks have gone back, so darker mornings and evenings are here.

A quick tip: if frost is forecast, salt your steps and paths the evening before. It's much easier to stop ice forming than to shift it once it's there, and you'll use less salt doing it.

After 11 years with Peacock Salt as Receptionist and Administration Assistant, Janice finished up for retirement last week, and the team marked the departure of our 'Queen of Hearts/Mad Hatter' with an Alice in Wonderland lunch in our new canteen.

We will miss the laughs, the singing and the boundless energy - not to mention being held accountable for what's left in the fridge. Christmas will look very different this year without the infamous 'Penguin Jumper'.

Thank you for everything, Janice. We hope retirement feels like a very merry unbirthday, every single day. Please pop in and see us while you're out and about running!
