A small device that may be fitted onto commercial boilers with intelligent burner control, which matches heat load demand to building fabric heat loss and adjusts to varying weather temperature. Two digital sensors are supplied with the main device to measure weather and room temperature. Most commercial boilers are designed to provide sufficient heat at -5°C weather temperature. When the weather temperature is above -5°C , boilers are less efficient. and the higher the weather temperature the more inefficient they are. As the average winter weather temperature is close to +8°C there is quite a bit of inefficiency over the full winter period. HeatGEM™ system addresses this boiler inefficiency by using external temperature readings, sophisticated algorithms and an average burner run time to rest time ratio to calculate optimum firing intervals and duration. Ensuring your building maintains its com-fort temperature but using less energy due to intelligent control. The result is:
- Fewer burner fires to overcome thermostat inaccuracy .
- Longer burner fires resulting in fewer purge periods which reduces water temperature loss.
- Longer burner fires also results in more residual heat gain which further results in longer idle periods.

The HeatGEM™ device is suitable for commercial boilers using natural gas, LP gas or Class C /Class D ON/OFF oil as an energy source. It is suitable for single or two stage burners and for multiburner installations. Equally suitable for atmospheric boilers to large force draught boilers. The HeatGEM™ adds extra control additional to Building Energy Management Systems and weather compensation. The HeatGEM™ is not suitable for 24 volt (low voltage) burner electric circuits
It is not suitable for heavy oil burners that re-quire fuel pre-heating or steam boilers. Seldom, if ever, is a heating system operating at an acceptable level of efficiency. Boilers bench-marked at 90% efficiency can drop to 70% when connected to the heating load of a building. Comparison of HeatGEM™ control compared to existing boiler configurations, can result in energy savings of 17% to 30%. Weather and Room temperatures are monitored continuously to identify efficiency patterns and trends. This information, transmitted to a dedicated secure database, can be displayed via the HeatGEM™ web portal, an online visualisation tool with customer-specific site information including:
