Talladega exists because Bill France went looking for space.

He wanted enough land for a major new speedway, with good road access and millions of potential spectators within reach. Construction began across 2,000 acres in Alabama in 1968, with Talladega Superspeedway opening the following year.

By 1991, circuit design had moved on. Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya opened as a permanent international racing facility, hosting Formula 1 within weeks and Grand Prix motorcycles the following season.

By the time Circuit of The Americas opened in 2012, the circuit had become just one part of the design. Its 420 hectare masterplan brought the track together with a 20 hectare Grand Plaza, grandstand, observation tower and amphitheatre. The track itself was carefully conceived too, with elevation changes and a layout inspired by famous circuits around the world.

More than four decades separate their openings, each reflecting how expectations of what a racing circuit should be have changed.

This weekend, NASCAR heads to Talladega, the International GT Open reaches its season finale in Barcelona, and F1 arrives at COTA for the United States Grand Prix.

Not every lap at a race weekend is done behind the wheel. 🏃

Ahead of the 6 Hours of Barcelona, some of our Prodrive race team swapped their usual pit lane duties for a 5 km lap of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, joining members of the FIA WEC paddock and fans for a charity run supporting the Pau Costa Foundation.

The run raised funds for projects helping communities in Catalunya improve wildfire prevention, education and the resilience of landscapes affected by fire. To learn more about the projects, follow Pau Costa Foundation

Success creates its own problems.

Endurance racing is thriving, with manufacturers, teams and drivers increasingly competing across multiple championships. This weekend, the crowded international calendar is putting that success to the test.

FIA WEC’s rearranged season brings it to Barcelona just as GT World Challenge Europe reaches its finale at Portimão. To help competitors caught between the two, organisers SRO moved the three hour portugese race from Sunday to Saturday evening.

Four drivers are attempting to tackle both events. , Tom Fleming, Benji Goethe and Darren Leung will compete at Portimão, then face a race of a different kind to reach Barcelona for Sunday’s WEC round.

Others have had to choose. Dani Juncadella and Jules Gounon are prioritising WEC, opening the door for Max Verstappen to make his GT World Challenge Europe debut for his own team, and creating the intriguing prospect of Verstappen and motorcycle legend Valentino Rossi sharing the GT3 grid at Portimão.

Elsewhere this , SUPER GT heads to AUTOPOLIS, while Motor Racing Legends brings its season to a close at Silverstone.

A familiar face has rolled back through the doors of Prodrive.

This Subaru Impreza WRC'03, campaigned by Tommi Mäkinen & Kaj Lindström, is in with the Prodrive Legends team for inspection, arriving with period documents and plenty of stories to tell.

Every Prodrive-built car has a history that starts in Banbury, before they end up around the world. Yet much of the knowledge, designs and expertise behind them is still here.

Twenty-three years on, it's good to see this one back where it all began.

Every race begins the same way.

Turn 1.

This , title contenders in three of motorsport's biggest series face three very different first corners, each capable of defining a race before it's truly begun.
At Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the season-ending Indianapolis 8 Hour sees the Intercontinental GT Challenge and GT World Challenge America come together with both championships decided in a single race. The heavy-braking first corner of the infield road course offers an immediate opportunity, and an immediate risk.

Meanwhile, the European Le Mans Series reaches its conclusion at the Algarve International Circuit. At Portimão, drivers arrive at Turn 1 over a blind crest, committing to a corner they can't fully see until they're almost there. It's a fitting venue for a championship finale.

Across the world, F1 returns to the walls of the Marina Bay Street Circuit for the Singapore Grand Prix. With little margin for error under the lights, surviving the opening complex is often the first challenge of one of the sport's toughest races.

Another iconic first corner awaits at Mount Panorama, where the Supercars Bathurst 1000 will get underway with a charge into ‘Hell Corner’. With the field funnelled towards a ninety degree left hander, there's little room for hesitation and even less for error. Get it right, and the foundations are laid for the next 1000 kilometres of hard racing.

Who's brave enough to lead into the first corner... and who's clever enough to still be leading at the finish? 🏁

When a P25 comes back through the doors at Banbury, it's a chance to recall the highly personal choices owners made when commissioning their cars.

Finished in Pearl White, this example stands apart from the image many people carry of an iconic Impreza. And that was the point.

Twenty five cars, twenty five owners, and plenty of individual tastes along the way.
