🎙️ Real Ice on iHeart Podcast! ❄️

Real Ice was recently featured on The Sunday Session with Francesca Rudkin on iHeart from News Talks ZB! Our co-founder Simon joined the show to discuss our field studies in Cambridge Bay, the challenges of preserving sea ice, and how we are trying to contribute to furthering knowledge on sea ice thickening.

''Well, we're only doing research to gather data on the feasibility of restoring Arctic sea ice at scale. We are
running small-scale tests. This is our third winter. We're based up at the Canadian High Arctic Research Station, which
is an excellent facility in Cambridge Bay...we're not trying to win a race here; we're trying to contribute to
solving a problem.''

A UK-based startup is working on carrying out a bold plan to fix the decline of sea ice in the Arctic. Real Ice's ultimate plan is to re-freeze the Arctic by thickening ice to slow down the damage caused by climate change. Co-founder Simon Woods says this is their third winter of re...

❄️ Real Ice Featured on CNN! 🌍

We’re excited to share that a recent CNN article highlighted our recent field studies in Cambridge Bay! The article explores our efforts to restore and preserve sea ice, which we believe is critical work as the Arctic experiences rapid warming.

You can read the full story here to learn more about our mission and how science blended with traditional knowledge could help protect this fragile region: https://loom.ly/5WCO_40.

Deep in the Canadian Arctic, scientists and entrepreneurs brave sub-zero temperatures, whipping winds and snowstorms to drill holes through the sea ice to pump out the seawater below and freeze it on the surface.

🧊Real Ice Featured on Weathered: Earths Extremes by PBS! 📺

We’re thrilled to share that our work in the Arctic was recently featured in a PBS segment exploring our approach to combating sea ice loss in a rapidly warming Arctic.

Watch the full video here to learn more about how we’re testing ways to thicken and preserve sea ice in one of the most vulnerable regions on the planet to climate change: https://loom.ly/By7y1u0.

Can scientists and engineers slow the loss of sea ice before it's too late?

❄️ Twilight on the Ice – Cambridge Bay Updates🧊

The Real Ice team is deep into our preliminary field tests, working on sea ice thickening research in Cambridge Bay. With the team now working in total twilight, we have just 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., with around 20 minutes of light lost daily.

But what a view those hours bring! Stunning Arctic skies have been lighting up our days, and this week, we’ve even been treated to the Aurora Borealis dancing over the sea ice nearly every afternoon - a breathtaking reminder of why the Arctic is so special.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue researching sea ice in the North. 💙

Our team have returned from the ice today with more progress on our mission to create Arctic sea ice and test our method of sea ice thickening🧊

They have been treated to a magical natural light show by the Aurora Borealis😍

Another beautiful day on the Arctic sea ice for our team🧊

Check out the video below showing the breathtaking landscape and our electric pumps in action in our research area👇

🧊Our third Field test of sea ice thickening begins in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut🧊

Weather: Crisp and calm, temperatures dipping to -18°C during the day and a 15 km/h wind. The aurora borealis made a special appearance in the evening when Brandon and Cian collected our equipment after its first day out on the ice.

🛠️Key update from the field:
- We prepared all of our equipment for this season of testing, brought them on the ice, and started the four pumps that will be running over the next 2 weeks in an attempt to flood our research area.

Check out the video below to see our electric pump in action!💧

🔬 Our Co-CEO, Sherwin, was back in Cambridge Bay for Winter Field Tests! ❄️

Last week, he was there to share plans for our field tests with the Ekaluktutiak Hunter and Trappers Organization (EHTO)

''It was great to visit Cambridge Bay ahead of our field tests, the HTO shared with us that the warmer temperatures this year may have delayed ice formation for a second year, for now, we will try to remain optimistic that colder days forecasted will allow the sea ice to thicken soon''🧊
