Clyde Valley Energy Co-operative

Clyde Valley Energy Co-operative Community Owned Wind Turbines in South Lanarkshire Elsewhere similar co-ops are returning over 10% per annum to members.

The Clyde Valley Energy Co-operative will give thousands of individuals across South Lanarkshire and beyond the opportunity to own a stake in their wind farm and receive an attractive annual income. It is also proposed that by linking with the local credit union network, participation can start from just £250 to ensure that as many people as possible can benefit from the project. In addition to pr

oviding an annual income, the Co-operative will also administer a new Community Fund set up to develop and benefit local projects and current priorities such as helping to alleviate fuel poverty; providing scholarships at local schools; and matching grants for local arts groups or other community development projects. The size of this fund and how it operates very much depends on the initiatives of the board members and the support of the membership. The Community Wind Co-operative will be easily accessible for local school field trips where students can learn about science, engineering and the environment. Co-operative ownership increases community involvement in renewable energy
projects, maximises financial returns from local resources, and mobilises environmental awareness. Most importantly, the Community Wind Co-operative model shows the people of South Lanarkshire how to take dynamic action to solve our global energy issues.
