Excited to share some recent scaffolding for a repeat client RyanBuild whom we have built a great working relationship with since January on several projects in and around the area.

Two temporary roofs in two weeks, meaning work doesn't stop due to the unfortunate weather.

This keeps the build on track as trades can work safely, protected from the elements and prevents potential damage through water ingress.

But just as important as our signage is what’s displayed right beneath it.

We’re honoured to have the Barrow-in-Furness banner up at our yard.

Andys Man Club Barrow-in-Furness provides a safe, non-judgemental space for men aged 18+ to talk openly about their mental health. No pressure. No expectations. Just real conversations with real people who understand.

Mental health matters – in our industry and in our community. If putting this banner up helps even one man realise he’s not alone, then it’s worth it.

We fully support the message:

I’ve spent years working across gas, oil and nuclear projects — managing large-scale scaffolding operations, shutdowns, decommissioning works and long-term maintenance contracts.

I progressed at every stage of my career not by luck, but by holding high standards, building strong systems, and never compromising on health & safety.

For me, scaffolding has never just been about tubes and boards.
It’s about responsibility.
It’s about protecting the people who use it.
It’s about doing things properly — even when no one’s watching.

Most recently, I was working as a Scaffolding Contract Manager on a major gas terminal operating in a complex environment that was both end-of-life and new-build at the same time. It demanded precision, planning and complete control of safety standards.

But I made the decision to step away from that role.

Why?

Because I saw a gap locally.

There seemed to be a difference between the systems, structure and safety culture on large industrial sites… and what was available in the domestic and smaller commercial market.

And I kept asking myself — why should those standards only exist on major projects?

That’s why I founded Furness Scaffolding Ltd.

Not just to start another scaffolding company — but to build one that brings industrial-level knowledge, commercial experience and uncompromising health & safety standards into our local area.

I’ve handpicked a team of scaffolders who share the same values — professionalism, pride, reliability and doing the job right first time. Skill is expected. The right attitude is essential.

We’re not chasing volume.

We’re focused on raising the standard.

Because whether it’s a refinery shutdown or a home extension — the responsibility doesn’t change.
