Reducing Embodied Carbon is Crucial to Achieving a Net Zero Carbon Built Environment by 2050 💭

Construction currently accounts for around 6% of the UK’s annual emissions, and embodied carbon can represent over half of the whole life carbon impacts of an energy-efficient new building. The World Green Building Council says all buildings and infrastructure projects should achieve at least a 40% reduction in embodied carbon by 2030.

Our carbon calculator helps consultants calculate the carbon emissions associated with heat loss from pipework systems over their lifetime, based on *BS 5422, CIBSE CP1 or a specified insulation thickness.

The Kingspan Kooltherm® Pipe Insulation Carbon Calculator provides an indication of heat loss, capital costs and the cost of lost heat, helping users understand the payback period in both cost and carbon when using different insulation standards.

Supporting Net Zero Goals with Kingspan Therma Duct 🏥

Kingspan Therma Duct Insulation has been installed on new external ductwork at St James’s Hospital as part of a programme of improvement work supporting Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust’s efforts to achieve net zero operational carbon emissions by 2040.

As part of improvements to the ventilation system, DPL Insulation used Kingspan Therma Duct Insulation to lag new external ductwork, subsequently applying a weatherproof finish. Therma Duct is a high-performance insulation designed for external ductwork applications.
