Just to show the quality of stainless steel Bartlein use. I wanted to make a gutter to fit on the front of my Bridgeport to catch flood coolant that dripped off the bed. Had a take off 1.250” parallel Bartlein on the floor so mounted it up and cut a 3/4”x3/4” channel in it fully expecting the bar to spring when the end clamps were released, taking this much material out of anything usually causes some stresses to be relieved and the bar to change shape. After this and other milling ops checked it on my surface table and no change in straightness at all. So fluting Bartleins is not an issue.

Just to let everyone know I’m done with using Parcelforce to ship fi****ms. If you send something to me that requires returning make sure you have the means to arrange this or are prepared to collect in person. Since the migration to Royal Mail the service has gone from average to completely unusable. Just been locked out for no reason again and PF say there is nothing they can do.

Making 2 pairs of bases for a pair of Borden Rimrocks to take Optilock rings. Slightly more complicated than previous ones as needed 20 moa machined in with bases fitted to action. I have an aversion to picitinny rails and lumpy scope rings.

Decided to make some direct fitting rings for my HV benchrest r***e. BAT bases and Kelbly rings weighed 95g, managed to loose 35g. Would have liked to go lower but NF scope has a lump on the mag ring right where the bolt handle passes it on 42x. Will clear anodise in the New Year.

Last stock for 2025. On my Christmas wish list this year is for stock blank manufacturers to 1) set the blank up on the centre line of the laminate before machining and 2) make the bits that need to be straight, square, parallel and to the size the regs stipulate correct.
