Plasma Cutting LEV Emissions

Our team carry out assessments on a fair amount of plasma cutting LEV systems. One of the most common items we come across is filters not sealed correctly.

This can be clearly seen when removing the clean side access chamber, to visually check the condition and the decolourisation is easy to see.

That particulate is very fine and can not be seen by the naked eye on the exhaust outlet.

To ensure to have the best air quality in your workshop, ensure that your LEV inspections are done thoroughly.

If you have an LEV (local exhaust ventilation) system - how often do you have it commissioned?

Where a change in the process or procedures have taken place or any modifications to the original design is when commissioning should take place.

A commissioning report acts as a benchmark from which subsequent LEV testing results can be compared. This means that any deviations from the commissioning report in the testing results can be investigated, and it’s easier to flag potential issues before they get worse and become more costly to repair.
