Building Cromerton | Pitching the Roof 🏡

Another big milestone at Cromerton as our carpenters get to work on the traditional hand-cut crown roof

With the cranked steels in place, the roof structure is taking shape, including the flitch beams forming the hips and openings for the rooflights.

Inside, stud walls are starting to define the rooms, while preparations are underway for the ground floor DPM and screed.

We’re also looking ahead to the finishing details, with window surveys completed, kitchen designs progressing and roof tile samples ready for client approval.

Next up completing the roof structure before the roof coverings go on. Follow along as we bring these two new homes to life.

We’re thrilled to have secured planning approval for our latest Design & Build project - a 4000 sq ft Georgian-inspired family home in Berkhamsted.

Working closely with our clients and our design team, we’re creating a bespoke home that combines traditional architecture with the needs of modern family living.

With planning now secured, we’ll be moving into the technical design stage, ahead of construction starting in 2027.

We’re looking forward to bringing this one to life!

A new project begins in Gerrards Cross 🏡

We’re starting a major renovation and extension of this existing home - including a two-storey extension, loft conversion and full refurbishment throughout.

The soft strip out is complete, foundations are underway and we’re already working through the details that will bring the old and new together.

We’ll be taking you behind the scenes as the project progresses, from the structural work right through to the finished interiors.

Setting out the roof at Cromerton 🏠

The brickwork has reached wall plate level and we’re now setting out the roof pitch, ready for the cranked steels and roof structure to go in.

There are plenty of smaller details happening too - from padstones and cavity closers to weep vents, movement joints and protecting the joist ends.

Inside, we’re already looking ahead to staircases and internal walls. Next up… the steels go in and we start pitching the roofs. 👀

Heading for roof level at Cromerton 🧱
The third and final scaffold lift is complete and the bricklayers are making their way up to roof plate.
Meanwhile, we’re already looking ahead finalising the solar and starting to explore windows and doors.

We’re delighted to have been appointed as Main Contractor for the extension and full refurbishment of this family home on Camp Road in Gerrards Cross.

The project includes a two-storey extension and loft conversion, together with air conditioning, Lutron lighting controls, an air source heat pump and solar PV.

We’ll be working closely with interior designer Lydia Allen Interiors and the clients to deliver a stunning interior scheme, with a very high level of detail and finish planned throughout the house.

Work begins on site next week, and we’re looking forward to seeing it all come together.

Another milestone reached at Cromerton - we’re officially up to first floor level.

The floor joists and first-floor decking are now in, protected and ready for the next stage of the build. The scaffolders have also completed the second lift, giving the bricklayers access to continue taking the walls up towards roof level.

Downstairs, the rooms are now fully formed - and for the first time, you can properly walk through the layout and get a sense of the two homes taking shape.

Next stop: roof level. 👀

This week has all been about scaffold, brickwork and structural steels at our Cromerton project 🧱

The walls are continuing to rise as the structure of these two new build homes really starts to take shape.

With scaffolding now in place, structural steelwork and lintels are being installed as the brickwork progresses towards roof level.

Another busy week on site in Beaconsfield - and it’s becoming much easier to picture the finished homes.
