We're proud to have been awarded a Silver Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) award under the Armed Forces Covenant.

Awarded by the Ministry of Defence, the scheme recognises employers who support the Armed Forces community, including veterans, reservists, cadet force adult volunteers, and military spouses and partners, through their employment policies and workplace culture.

Supporting the people who serve matters to us. Members of the Armed Forces community bring experience and skills that strengthen our teams across the UK, and we're proud to work alongside them.

That support runs through how we work. Reservists with us get additional paid leave for training, we go to Career Transition Partnership events to meet service leavers, and we open our yards to cadets and reserve units to show what a career in shipbuilding and engineering can offer. Our VetNet network also gives colleagues with a Forces background a way to support each other.

Donato Martínez, Navantia UK CEO, said: “This Silver award reflects how much the Armed Forces community means to Navantia UK. As we grow across defence, energy and engineering, the experience and dedication that veterans and reservists bring is exactly what we want at the heart of the business.”

For generations, Belfast shipbuilding stood among the best in the world. Today, through the Fleet Solid Support programme, that capability is being restored at Harland & Wolff, with the yard once again playing a central role in the future of UK naval shipbuilding.

This video takes you through the fabrication hall, the new extension and the equipment being installed as part of the modernisation of the yard. It captures a recent stage of the recapitalisation, and in the weeks since, the work has moved on again. This phase remains on track to complete this summer.

FSS is about delivering three vital ships for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, starting with RFA Resurgent. But it is also about investing in the yards, the technology and the people who will build them.

Navantia UK’s investment in Harland & Wolff has now passed £98.5 million, well beyond the £77 million committed before the acquisition, and forms part of £157 million being invested across the four UK yards.

The extension shown in the video will house new mechanised panel lines, robotic plasma cutting and automated quality control. With the work now nearing completion, Belfast is fast becoming one of the most advanced shipyards in Europe, built to Navantia’s Shipyard 5.0 standard.

And then there are the people, because that is where the future really lies. More than 1,200 people are now employed in skilled roles across the business, with plans to grow that to 2,000 by 2030. Apprentices are central to that future. With 222 already across the yards and another 121 joining this autumn, they are the next generation who will carry these skills forward and help rebuild the UK’s industrial base for the long term.

To everyone playing a part in this, be proud. What is being rebuilt in Belfast is sovereign capability that the UK and its allies will rely on for decades to come.

Navantia UK has been named Investment Project of the Year!

Last night, our Belfast colleagues attended the Made in Northern Ireland Awards 2026 at Titanic Belfast, celebrating the strength and innovation of the region's manufacturing and engineering sector.

We were honoured to take home the award for the transformation of Harland & Wolff, recognising the scale of the programme and its contribution to Northern Ireland's industrial future.

Our investment in Harland & Wolff has now risen to £98.5 million. The judges highlighted the ambition of the revival project, its role in strengthening Belfast's position in global shipbuilding and advanced engineering, and its importance in supporting long-term industrial capability in the region.

This recognition is a credit to every team involved in delivering the programme and the ongoing transformation.

Congratulations to all the winners and finalists, and thank you to the organisers for a great evening celebrating Northern Ireland manufacturing.

Today at the Combined Naval Event, we introduced the LASV75, our new Large Autonomous Surface Vessel and a key part of Navantia UK's vision for the future hybrid navy.

Designed by our teams in the UK, the LASV75 combines advanced modularity, high availability and uncrewed capability, supporting the future integration of crewed warships with autonomous technologies.

Its launch reflects the wider transformation underway across our four UK shipyards in Appledore, Arnish, Belfast and Methil, backed by £157 million of investment to create some of Europe's most advanced shipbuilding facilities.

Derek Jones, Chief Commercial and Business Development Officer at Navantia UK, said: "Autonomous vessels are fundamental to the future of sovereign defence capabilities. Naval capabilities of the future will comprise a hybrid mixture of crewed warships with uncrewed escorts and ancillary ships.

"At Navantia UK, we're investing heavily in our four shipyards to turn them into ideal partners to deliver this vision of the future. With digital design capabilities and cutting-edge automated technology, our sites are being transformed into some of the most advanced shipyards in Europe.

"Meanwhile, we're working at pace to deliver the Fleet Solid Support programme, which involves building some of the largest ships in the armed forces."

We won!

Last week, Navantia UK took home a Company Culture Awards trophy for ‘Best Integration & Merger Initiative’.

It’s a great marker of the progress our teams are making to bring people, sites and expertise together across the business. The day-to-day matters here, sharing knowledge, backing each other up, and building a more connected organisation across our defence, energy and maritime programmes.

The judges commented: “Navantia UK demonstrates a thoughtful and well-executed approach to integration, balancing operational continuity with cultural unification. By prioritising people, knowledge sharing and wellbeing, they have achieved a smooth merger that preserves strengths, retains talent and builds enhanced capability for the future.”

Thank you to our team, from apprentices to managers. A lot of work has gone into getting integration right, and it’s down to the people doing it, every day.
