In loving memory of artist Phyllida Barlow (1944 - 2023)

Phyllida Barlow was invited to create a site-specific ceiling for the Audley. Barlow began at the studio by painting lining paper in hot colours – reds, pinks, oranges combined with blues and greens – using a broom to enlarge the textures, drips, and chance gestures. On site these were cut up, collaged and pasted directly onto the ceiling in shapes that were inspired by, and echoed, the existing architecture of the Audley, specifically the curve of the Edwardian windows. The collision of colours and forms that process along the length of the Audley also weaves in musical ebbs and flows, as Barlow explained ‘somewhere between Classical and Jazz […] creating an ebullient mood, that was both welcoming and spirited’, much like the Audley itself!

BENCH JOINER REQUIRED

This role provides an opportunity to join an experienced team and provides an excellent opportunity to develop your already established Joinery Skills

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will be part of a team of people who are responsible for the manufacture of specialist and bespoke joinery items. Your role will include, but will not be limited to the following:

• Perform high end joinery tasks as directed.
• Demonstrate a high level of bench joinery craft.
• Demonstrate a high level of competency in the use and care of key task tools and equipment to achieve an all-round superior quality standard.
• Demonstrate key technical knowledge in reading understanding and working from manufacturing drawings.
• Demonstrate an ability to use own initiative and contribute towards continuous improvement techniques.
• Take instruction from the Production manager and carry out the task in a professional & efficient manner.
• Maintain tools and equipment in a safe working order.
• Work within the internal quality system ensuring that a high standard of production is maintained through to finished product stage.
• Operate to health and safety policy and guidelines laid down in the workshop and always operate in a safe and responsible manner.
• Maintain good housekeeping and a safe work environment and ensure own safety and safety of others.
• Any other duties, within reason and capability, as determined by the Production Manager
