It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Gordon Rampy, the founder of CHEMetrics, has passed away at the age of 96. An MIT-trained chemist, saw the need for faster, simpler, and safer water testing solutions. He developed an innovative technology for colourimetric water testing applications, based on a unique self-filling reagent ampoule, and founded CHEMetrics in 1969 in order to bring this exciting new technology to market. Under his tenure the company grew from strength to strength, offering solutions for a variety of different testing applications. He will be sorely missed.
We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Gordon A. Rampy, founder of CHEMetrics, who passed away peacefully on July 7 at the age of 96.
Gordon was more than an entrepreneur. He was a chemist, innovator, and visionary whose curiosity and determination led him to develop the water-testing ampoule that became the foundation of CHEMetrics. From a basement laboratory to a globally respected company, his work helped shape the water testing industry and continues to make an impact around the world.
He was known for his sharp mind, honesty, and high standards, earning the respect and loyalty of colleagues who worked alongside him for decades. We are grateful to have had Gordon as a leader and for the lasting impact he made on our company and industry.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gordon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished his family.
Our thoughts are with the Rampy family during this time. He will be greatly missed.
