In this video, we remove a massive 24kW quad-fan Grant Aerona heat pump and replace it with a much smaller, smarter 8kW Ideal HP290 single-fan heat pump.

At first glance, it looks impossible. How can a house go from a huge 24kW heat pump down to an 8kW unit?

This is exactly why proper heat loss calculations, system design, flow temperature strategy, and installer experience matter. Bigger is not always better. In fact, oversizing a heat pump can lead to poor efficiency, unnecessary cycling, higher running costs, and a system that does not perform as smoothly as it should.

🔥 Another Heat Pump-Ready Home Transformed by Elite Services Group 🔥

Our latest air source heat pump installation was a brilliant example of a property that was already perfectly suited for low-temperature heating. 🙌

This home had underfloor heating both upstairs and downstairs, allowing us to maximise the efficiency of the heat pump and run the system at lower flow temperatures — exactly where heat pumps perform at their best. 🌡️⚡

Even within the first few days, the system was already achieving around 400% efficiency, showing just how well a properly designed low-temperature system can perform. 📈

As part of the project, we upgraded the hot water cylinder to improve heat recovery performance, while making full use of the existing wet heating pipework throughout the property. This helped keep the installation smart, efficient, and well-suited to the home. ✅

We also installed a Homely smart thermostat, allowing the system to optimise flow temperatures and work intelligently around the home’s energy usage and smart tariff opportunities. 🧠🏡

The customer is over the moon with the finished installation and is now looking forward to moving away from oil, gaining more control over their heating, and future-proofing their home with renewable technology. 🌍💚

Another inefficient oil boiler removed and replaced with a highly efficient, green energy air-to-water air source heat pump. ✅🌱

This customer is now enjoying constant, comfortable heating throughout the property, with warmth blending evenly into all areas and corners of the home — without the stop-start nature and hassle often associated with older fossil fuel systems.

Using Elite Services Group’s years of experience in heat pump design, installation, and detailed heat loss reporting, we were able to design the system correctly and only required a few radiator upgrades to achieve a highly efficient and comfortable result. 👌

On this project, the customer also had a good-quality existing cylinder, so rather than replacing equipment unnecessarily, we were able to adapt the heat pump to work with the existing cylinder. This helped reduce the overall installation cost and, combined with the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme contribution, made this a very strong return on investment. 💷
