Do you have all you eggs in one basket this Easter?

How many us have seen our plans change from the beginning of the year to now?

With the Easter break starting as we move into 2026 Q2, it's a good time to reflect on the challenges and progress over the last three months.

One thing is certain, the world suddenly feels very different for most people.

We have been living with uncertainty for a number of years now. And the 'old' methods of finding security for the future, the traditional career path through to retirement, just don't seem to be enough.

It's no wonder then that more than 1 in 3 adults in the UK have more than one income stream.

Partly to maintain living standards through ever increasing costs, and partly to avoid having all your eggs in one basket, should something happen that's beyond our control.

So as this Easter break gives allows time to think and reflect, maybe its time to ask ourselves this one simple question:

"What's my Plan B?"

If you'd like to talk about Your Next Options, let me know.

A rebrand of my service page has long been overdue. I needed to find clarity as I felt my message was getting lost. I wasn't even clear myself how all of the various service options I offered tied together, and I was starting to find it a challenge to speak with clarity whenever somebody asked me 'what do you do?'

Do I talk about my award winning photography service?

What about the range of commercial services I provide including introducing businesses to new service providers?

Then there's the coaching and mentoring, the bill health checks, free energy club and my growing team of 'bill busting gurus'!

Mental health advocacy and simply 'being there'.

Connections, collaborations, networking.

I've added podcasting to my list.

Stories are a big part of my work, being a visual story creator and helping others to share their stories.

Husband, father, part time dogsitter.

I'm a dreadful sales person - I talk people into something and before I know it I've talked them out of it again!

But I'm good at finding solutions, uncovering and offering the right options to help people move from point A towards point B.

So over some months as I've been bringing lots of loose ends together, I began to realise what the common element to all this is.

Isn't it funy how we can talk, listen to others and find the words that make sense to them, to their situation and their future. But we can't do it for ourselves?

Yes that common element in everything I offer is ME...

It's hard to quantify it, to put a discreet value on what I do, how I do it. Maybe because all the elements are so varied and often seem unrelated. But the true value is in the difference we make. The hopes, aspirations and dreams for the future, and the belief that comes with it.

So how do I sum this up? Because it's not about one service, one connection, one fix.

Well it turns out it's the OPTIONS!

And that's where my skills lie.

Listening, questioning, perhaps even probing, in the right way with the right words. Uncovering the options that will make a differfence.

My job then isn't to decide, or to sell, or to persuade.

It's simply to show, to present and describe what is possible. Share some options. Show how those options can be achieved, and if necessary connect with the right people to go the next step.

So here we are, at the end of a long and rambling post that somehow brings me closer to clarity for my own journey, and indeed my own options. It's the start of the next chapter in my story and it's called...

👀 Here's what Martin Lewis had to say earlier today:-

Important: If you can get off the Energy Price Cap right now, you should & urgently!

- The wholesale gas rate is spiking due to the Iran conflict, and it is a prime driver or UK elec prices. If that's sustained (big if), it will likely push the Price Cap rate up from July

- Some of the cheap fixes from before the weekend haven't (yet) been pulled, so you can still lock in a rate at around 14% less than the current Price Cap, both saving you money and giving peace of mind that the rate can't rise.

Many firms are reassessing their fix prices today and may reprice their deals upward. There's a risk many of the current cheapest fixes will be gone by this time tomorrow.

- Plus, fix now, and unprecedentedly the rate you lock in at will be reduced on 1 April. This is because govt is changing the underlying way energy bills work and moving some policy costs to general taxation. That reduces the elec & gas unit rates even for those already on fixes. So even if you fix now the amount you pay will drop by 7% to 9% on typical usage on 1 April

How to know if you're on a Price Cap?

The Price Cap only applies to firms' Standard Variable tariffs. It's the default tariff you're on if you haven't chosen another deal, or your deal (eg a fix) ended and you did nothing. If you're fixed, on an EV tariff, a time of use tariff, or other specialist tariff, you are not on the Price Cap.

❗️As I said above, if you want to fix your energy rates, I’ve cleared my diary for today and tomorrow afternoon. I'm here to help. We can jump on a quick call and explore the options that suit you.

I'M REALLY SORRY!🫣

If you're NOT a UW customer you can expect your broadband costs to increase mid-contract very soon.

With most people wanting to keep their homes warm through the freezing temperatures this winter but maybe worried about their bill next month, who do you know that might like their supplier to pay their energy bill for them?
