Some discoveries stop you in your tracks.

During a visit to the Telephone Kiosk Collection at the Avoncroft Museum Buildings in Bromsgrove, our Managing Director Mark McCleary came across a Yellow Pages directory from the late 1980s, resting inside one of those unmistakable red kiosks.

Back then, that book was how Britain found a business. No websites. No search engines. Just paper, patience and a phone box. He turned to the letter B. And there we were. D Berry & Co, as Berrys was known in those days, printed in black and white.

But here's the part that made us smile. The telephone number on that page still rings in our Birmingham office today. Add the 0121 that arrived in the nineties, and it's the very same line: 0121 558 4411.

The industry has transformed. Fuel infrastructure has transformed. Berrys has transformed with it. Yet through six decades of change, our customers have always known exactly where to find us.

Sixty years. One name. One number.

Our thanks to the Avoncroft Museum for preserving these small pieces of everyday history, including, as it turns out, a little piece of ours.

Some of the most important forecourt maintenance tasks happen several metres above ground.

Pressure vacuum valves need to remain accessible for inspection and maintenance, but reaching components at the top of a conventional vent stack can introduce additional equipment, time and working-at-height considerations.

Every underground fuel tank needs a way in.

Fill points, suction lines, vents and gauging equipment all pass through the tank top. Every one of those penetrations is a potential leak path unless it's engineered properly.

That's the job a tank chamber (https://berrys.com/categories/tank-chambers) does. It's a job we've been doing since 1966.
For years, chambers were built on site: welded, sealed, and pressure-tested in the field under time pressure in whatever weather installation day brought. Quality depended on conditions nobody could fully control.

Our ATLAS Mono Gen 2 chambers take a different approach. They arrive factory-sealed and pressure-tested before they ever reach the site. Containment integrity is verified under controlled conditions, not assumed after a rushed field weld.

At Tesco Widnes Bridge, that ready-to-install approach cut both construction time and plant hours. At Stanley Services in Durham, our MONO upgrades replaced field-assembled chambers, exactly the installations most prone to leaking at joints you can't easily inspect.

How Easy Riser Improves Vapour Dispersion for Modern Forecourts.

Every forecourt vent system relies on a pressure-vacuum valve, which requires annual inspection under UK regulations, regardless of site conditions or access constraints.

The issue is location. The valve typically sits at the top of the vent stack, several meters above ground, requiring ladder access, scaffold towers, or a dedicated access team for what should be a routine check.

That access requirement carries real risk. HSE figures for 2024/25 show falls from height remain the leading cause of fatal workplace injury in the UK, accounting for over a quarter of all recorded deaths (HSE, 2025).

Easy Riser relocates the valve to ground level without altering its function. Inspection and maintenance are carried out from ground level, eliminating the need for height access entirely. The quick release valve design reduces a half-day contractor job to a few minutes for the on-site team.

Why do we subject every Midas Elbow to vibration testing before it leaves the factory?

Every Midas Elbow goes through vibration testing before it's approved for the field.

We're simulating years of operational stress in a controlled environment, checking for fatigue points, seal integrity and structural performance under sustained load. If there's a weakness, we want to find it on the test rig, not on a live site.

Richard Leddington, our Assembly & Production Manager, leads this process. His approach is straightforward: nothing goes out with the Berrys Technologies Limited brand on it unless he's satisfied it will perform exactly as specified, every time, in the conditions it's actually built for.

That standard is what separates a component that survives the odd inspection from one that quietly does its job for the next twenty years.

It's not the most exciting part of the job to film. But it's the part that gives operators, contractors and site engineers confidence that what they're installing has already been through worse than anything the ground will throw at it.

Working at height is still the single biggest cause of death at work in Britain.

Around 28% of worker fatalities last year came from a fall. (HSE, 2024/25.)

So why do we still send an engineer up a forecourt vent stack once a year to inspect a valve?
