The British Heart Foundation’s vision is a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases. They raise money to research cures and treatments to give people more time with their loved ones.

Heart attacks, strokes and congenital heart defects are just some of the cruelties of cardiovascular disease. The reality is that there is still much for science to discover before we can beat the world’s biggest killers.

Funding research is how the British Heart Foundation changes the game. Life-saving tools such as heart transplants, pacemakers, stents, and portable defibrillators exist today because of this research. By supporting the best and brightest scientific ideas, they help turn concepts into the treatments available at your GP.

Each month throughout the year, R&C will donate £500 to a different charity. The charity will be chosen by our staff based on the work they do being close to the hearts of people within our business.

AND THE WINNER IS...

Another quarter, another fantastic set of entries, but this time there was a clear favourite.

Photo 3 takes the top spot for Q1 2026, capturing one of our welfare units parked beside a mist-covered watercourse on a cold winter morning. The early light, low fog and calm surroundings created a striking image that perfectly reflects the environments our teams work in every day.

Photo 1 finished as runner-up, showing our crews responding to localised flooding. The image highlights the important role our teams play in supporting communities and managing challenging conditions when the weather takes a turn.

Both photos tell very different stories, but each showcases the dedication, professionalism and varied nature of the work carried out across the business.

A huge thank you to everyone who submitted photos and took part in the voting. We are already looking forward to seeing what Q2 brings. Keep those cameras ready and keep sending your best shots in

Back in 2020, R&C’s offices were hit by devastating floods. What followed was years of hard work, planning and determination to come back stronger.

Now, that vision has become reality.

R&C has officially moved into its brand new headquarters, a modern, purpose-built facility designed for the future of the business, its staff and its operatives.

The new site brings together state-of-the-art meeting rooms and conferencing technology, dedicated vehicle storage inside the building, upgraded mess facilities for operatives, electric vehicle charging points, a staff gym and even a pool table to create a workplace people genuinely enjoy being part of.

Sustainability has also played a major role in the development, with solar panels installed across the facility to help power the next generation of operations.

Most importantly, the new headquarters gives R&C room to grow. More space, better facilities and an environment built around collaboration, efficiency and supporting the team both on and off the road.

A long time coming, but worth the wait.

R&C Williams was proud to support the recent student work experience programme at Bescot Depot, delivered in partnership with Groupe Colas, National Highways, Sandwell College, Dudley College, Carl Saunders Fencing and WJ

Representing R&C Williams, Alex Colesby took part in the practical VRS sessions, helping students gain hands-on insight into highways operations, site safety and the opportunities available across the sector.

The programme engaged around 20 students on site and delivered more than 100 hours of combined project work and site visits. It was great to see such strong enthusiasm from students throughout the programme, with many keen to learn more about future careers within the industry.

A big thank you to everyone involved in delivering another successful programme and helping inspire the next generation entering the highways sector.

Today we held a Wellbeing Morning in our new offices as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

It was a great opportunity for the team to come together over a sandwich and a cup of tea, have a catch up, and take some time away from the day-to-day workload.

At R&C Williams, looking after the mental health and wellbeing of our team is something we take seriously. Creating opportunities like this allows people to talk openly, check in with one another, and know that support is always available.

Arron Roberts H&S Manager said:

“Taking care of our mental health and wellbeing is something we pride ourselves on at R&C. Mornings like today allow us to get together and discuss any thoughts or issues the team is facing. With Mental Health First Aiders available, as well as a series of external support systems, we know that the support is there if anyone is ever in need of it. It’s a really positive way to start the day.”

A big thank you to everyone who joined us this morning.

As part of our recent office transition, we’re pleased to see our previous office furniture going to a great new home rather than to waste.

A big thank you to Convey Us, who reached out via social media and kindly made a charitable donation on our behalf in return.

The donation will support Sutton Coldfield Town FC Under 11 Blues as they take part in the Sutton Fun Run in aid of Kids Village Charity, a fantastic charity that provides fully funded respite breaks for children with critical illnesses and their families.

We’re proud to support such a worthwhile cause and pleased that something as simple as reusing furniture can help make a difference in the local community.

We had a fantastic day yesterday at the CECA Safe Digging Event, hosted by the team at JCB

As a business, R&C is committed to ensuring our teams have access to the very best safety training and industry insights. Getting a hands-on look at the latest safe digging practices and equipment innovation at JCB’s world-class facilities was invaluable.

Key highlights from the agenda included:

Real-world Impact: A powerful session from Mike Legg on the personal and legal consequences when safety measures fail.

Tech Evolution: Exploring the National Underground Asset Register (NUAR) and the latest in Vacuum Excavation (Vac-Ex) technology.

Future-Proofing: Deep dives into CSCS smart cards and cutting-edge machinery with the JCB & Barhale teams.

The day was topped off with a brilliant tour of the JCB museum, a true testament to British engineering heritage.

Huge thanks to CECA Midlands Ltd for organising such a vital event and to JCB for being such exceptional hosts.

We’ve gone through the entries and picked four finalists. Each one shows a different side of site life, nothing staged, just what was in front of the camera at the time.

Now it’s your call.

Pancreatic Cancer UK is a leading charity focused on transforming the future for those affected by the disease through a combination of specialist support, groundbreaking research and national advocacy. They provide a vital lifeline via nurse-led support services, fund innovative studies into early detection and new treatments. By training healthcare professionals and lobbying for increased government funding, the charity aims to double survival rates and ensure every patient receives the care and information they need as quickly as possible.

Next month, our friends at Highway Traffic Management are taking on the ‘Cruel Corby Crawl’ - a massive 57-mile trek from their Corby depot all the way to HQ in Birmingham. We are proud to support their efforts as they raise vital funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Each month throughout the year, R&C will donate £500 to a different charity. The charity will be chosen by our staff based on the work they do being close to the hearts of people within our business.
