WE DID IT! šŸ”ļø Last month our team officially conquered the National Three Peaks Challenge!

Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon. Over the course of 23 hours 15 minutes, we battled the elements, pushed through the miles on minimal sleep, and faced a true test of physical and mental endurance. It was incredibly tough, but crossing that final finish line together was an unforgettable feeling.

Beyond the physical challenge itself, one of the proudest takeaways from this weekend was the incredible teamwork on display between our R&C staff. Out on the mountains, our day-to-day roles melted away. We leaned on each other, motivated one another through the darkest and steepest parts of the climbs, and proved that when the R&C Williams team unites behind a common goal, we can conquer absolutely anything. We started as a group of colleagues and crossed the finish line as one united team.

Every single grueling step, sore muscle, and steep incline was made worthwhile knowing exactly why we were doing this: to raise vital funds and awareness for Mates in Mind. Mental health and wellbeing in our industry is so incredibly important, and we are exceptionally proud to support the vital work they do.

We want to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who cheered us on, sent messages of support, and donated. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we have currently raised £3280.

Our July GIVĀ£1 has been donated to University Hospitals Birmingham Charity, specifically the Harborne Ward at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, in loving memory of our colleagues' Mom and Nan, Carol Linda Peach.

During her time there, the ward’s "Peaches Diner" - a special space created to bring comfort, music and a sense of normality to patients - provided Carol and her family with warm care, meaningful moments and cherished memories to make every day a little brighter.

The ward provides a vital service for patients - many of whom live with dementia and find hospital environments confusing and overwhelming - and their families when it matters most. We are honoured to support the compassionate work they do.

Each month throughout the year, R&C will donate £500 to a different charity. The charity will be chosen by our employees based on the work they do being close to the hearts of people within our business.

R&C is proud to announce that we have achieved PAS 2080:2023 verification for Carbon Management in Buildings and Infrastructure. This certification applies to our public works, highways and civil engineering contracting activities and is independently verified by NQA.

Achieving PAS 2080 reflects our commitment to reducing carbon across the projects we deliver, while continuing to provide safe, high quality infrastructure solutions for our clients.

Sustainability is becoming an essential part of every infrastructure project. This verification demonstrates that we have the processes, governance and commitment in place to identify, manage and reduce carbon throughout the project lifecycle.

A huge thank you to everyone across the business who contributed to this achievement. We remain committed to improving the way we deliver projects and supporting our clients' environmental goals.

Alex Colesby, our Compliance Manager said

"Achieving PAS 2080 is an important milestone for R&C. It demonstrates that carbon management is embedded into the way we plan and deliver our projects. This certification gives our clients confidence that we are committed to reducing environmental impact while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and performance."

YoungMinds is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people. The organisation works on multiple fronts to ensure that no young person has to face mental health challenges alone.

They provide young people with vital tools, digital resources and advice to help them navigate difficult emotions and look after their mental health. Recognising the crucial role of support systems, the charity also operates a free, confidential Parents Helpline to guide adults who are worried about a child's emotional wellbeing. Beyond direct support, YoungMinds actively campaigns for systemic change, pushing for better NHS mental health services and influencing government policy by elevating the voices of young people.

Each month throughout the year, R&C will donate £500 to a different charity. The charity will be chosen by our employees based on the work they do being close to the hearts of people within our business.

National Three Peaks Challenge 2026

In July, a team from R&C Williams will be taking on one of the UK's toughest endurance events, the National Three Peaks Challenge.

The challenge involves climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, all within 24 hours.

Across the challenge, the team will cover around 23 miles on foot and tackle more than 10,000 feet of ascent. It will test fitness, determination and teamwork, but most importantly, it is all being done to raise money for a fantastic cause, Mates in Mind.

The challenge has already brought colleagues together from across the business, with office and site-based teams joining training walks and supporting each other in preparation for the event. It's been a great opportunity to build stronger connections, improve wellbeing and take on a shared goal outside of the workplace.

A huge thank you also goes to the companies supporting the team with equipment and clothing for the challenge, including Highway Traffic Management, Up To Speed Training & Assessment Ltd, LA SAFETY SUPPLIES LIMITED , Arco and Vp plc.

We wish everyone taking part the very best of luck and look forward to following their progress as they take on the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales for a great cause.
