Tado Smart Thermostats and TRVs: Proven to save 30% on gas bills!
In March 2025, I performed a boiler service for Mr. A and installed a Tado Smart Thermostat V3+. Returning to his home this March for his annual service, I naturally followed up to see how much of an impact the smart thermostat and Smart TRVs had on his energy bills. Mr. A reported a 30% saving!!!
After I installed the main Tado system last year, I guided Mr. A on how to DIY the installation of the Smart TRVs. He installed them in three bedrooms, the living room, kitchen, and dining room. Now, whenever a room is occupied, it is set to 18°C. Once that temperature is reached, the TRV closes the radiator. More importantly, when all rooms with Smart TRVs reach 18°C, the system shuts down the boiler entirely. Unlike traditional TRVs, Smart TRVs can "call for heat" or tell the boiler to stop independently of the main thermostat. This precise control is likely why he has seen such significant energy savings.
Mr. A also shared a great tip: when using Tado Smart TRVs, opt for IKEA rechargeable batteries. These are actually manufactured by Panasonic and are very durable. Avoid Amazon Basics rechargeable batteries, as they are slightly larger in diameter; once inserted into a Tado unit, they can be extremely difficult to remove. Please keep this in mind!

Tado smart thermostat 及TRV 實證慳30% gas 費！

2025年3月為A先生做boiler service 及安裝了tado smart thermostat V3+, 今年3月再到A先生屋企做boiler service，當然問一下安裝完smart thermostat 及smart TRV 後，對能源賬單有幾大幫助！ A先生話慳到30%！！！ 我上年裝完tado 後，教A先生自己DIY 裝smart TRV, 就將3間睡房，living room, kitchen, dining room 都裝左smart TRV, 之後每當有人係其中一個房間時，就會著18度，到左18度TRV就會關radiator, 什至當有smart TRV 的房間到左18度就會熄埋boiler, 而並非要boiler thermostat 夠溫度先會熄boiler, 相信係因為咁，smart TRV 可以叫停boiler而普通TRV就做唔到，從而慳左能源費用，亦可以更精準控制房間溫度。

A先生更分享到，如果使用tado smart trv 時，可以購買IKEA 差電，因為其實係Panasonic 差電，會比較耐用；而不要用Amazon 差電，因為Amazon差電會大粒少少，裝入tado 後會拎唔返出嚟，大家如要用，要留意一下！

Hive smart thermostat 失聯！屋企安裝Hive 既朋友，有陣時就會遇到佢disconnect, 之後boiler 就有機會失去控制，不論係用緊Hive/ Hive mini, 有無水缸，都可以試下呢個方法！

好耐都無出post, 架車整左好耐好多次，搞到壓力好大，影響工作，願主祝福換左另一架會無問題，可以出入平安la！

Baxi Due tec boiler no heating but hot water fine, found that the diverter valve head was faulty. Changed a new Genuine parts, heating resume.

Hot water shower low pressure. After diagnosis, found that the TMV faulty. After replacement, Pressure resumed. TMV is Therostatic mixing valve that mixes hot and cold water to a preset, safe and consistent temperature to prevent scalding.

Replaced kitchen tap and installed filter. Kitchen tap leak and customer would like to install a filter in order to have clean drinking water from kitchen tap.

customer provided kitchen tape and filter, pay labour cost only and no hidden cost. tested everything no leak. happy days.

Replaced new electric shower. The old shower keep tripping, an electrician told to customer to replace the shower.

Helped customer to choose a suitable one, customer prepared the shower for me, installation fee only, no hidden cost and punctual. Made sure sealed all holes and no leak.
