Reflecting on a productive few days at UKREiiF 2026 in Leeds last week.

Ben Hall, Joe Travers, Jack Mellor and Dee Rana attended on behalf of IMA Architects, taking in a full programme of talks, dinners, drinks receptions and conversations across industrial, commercial and the wider built environment.

A number of highlights stood out, and there are several thank yous to share.

Thank you to Rodgers Leask for the breakfast that opened the week, and to Kriston Harvey for the invitation to a closing breakfast at The Ivy Asia, which was a fitting way to round off the event.

Thank you to Glencar for the invitation to Shedquarters, which continues to be one of the standout fringe events for anyone working in industrial and logistics.

Our thanks also to Andrew Beaumont for the invitation to the McLaren Construction Group drinks reception, and to Alistair McCallum for the invitation to the Wordsworth Construction Management drinks reception. Both were excellent evenings and good opportunities to connect with others across the sector.

We were also pleased to host a joint lunch with our friends at Millward Consulting Engineers at Riva Blu. It was a genuinely enjoyable afternoon and a real highlight of the week.

We always value the opportunity to spend time with the Millward team, and the lunch reinforced how much we appreciate that working relationship.

A particular thank you to Team Leicester UK and Invest in Leicester for the invitation to dinner at the Leeds Metropole, and for the evening that followed with the wider Team Leicester contingent. It was a strong reminder of the scale and quality of activity taking place across the East Midlands at the moment, a theme also picked up in the East Midlands team's session at UKREiiF, which looked at future plans and developments for the region.

Joe also attended a session on one of the most prominent themes of this year's event, the future of data centres.

We are already looking forward to UKREiiF 2027.

To mark International Women’s Day, we’re highlighting an important conversation within the architecture profession.

In a new blog for IMA Architects, architect Sofia Coviello explores the question: why do so many women appear to disappear from architecture between university and professional practice?

While female representation in architecture schools has increased significantly, the transition into long-term careers in practice remains a challenge across the industry. Sofia’s article reflects on this gap and considers what more can be done to support women as they build sustainable careers in architecture.

Practical Completion achieved at Plot 1 Stud Brook Business Park, Castle Donington.

Working alongside and lead contractor Roe Developments, we’re pleased to see Plot 1 delivered – providing five high-quality industrial, warehouse and trade counter units in one of the East Midlands’ most strategically connected locations.

Ranging from 3,234 sq ft to 4,653 sq ft, the units sit prominently off the Castle Donington bypass, moments from East Midlands Airport and the M1.

With small, high-spec units in limited supply across the region, Stud Brook offers occupiers modern, visible space ready for immediate occupation.

Well done to the wider team on another successful completion.

We’re incredibly proud to share that Sofia Coviello has been named Apprentice of the Year at the East Midlands Chamber Business Awards!

This recognition is a testament not only to Sofia’s talent and commitment, but to the dedication she has shown throughout her apprenticeship journey – balancing academic study with real project responsibility in practice.

Congratulations, Sofia. Thoroughly deserved!

We’re pleased to share that IMA Architects has joined UK Architects Declare.

Architects Declare is a profession-wide pledge to address the climate and biodiversity emergency – committing to lower carbon design, reduced waste and long-term thinking. It’s not a tick-box exercise. It’s about making better decisions at the earliest stages of a project.

This builds on the way we already work. Across our industrial, logistics and commercial schemes, we’re always looking at how buildings can perform better – environmentally and commercially – for the long term.

You can read more about why we’ve joined on our website via the link below.

We’re always open to conversations with clients and industry contacts who want to explore a more sustainable approach to their next project.
