Last weeks end of week overview!

Busy week last week, even busier this week! Plenty in and had a good start to June… but where there’s a will there’s a way and we will get through it all😁 Head gaskets, clutches, wet belts, air con condensers, services, MOTs, brakes, ingineum chains… you name it and it’s in our diary for this week🤣

We offer both old and new aircon systems! If your vehicle has an aircon leak we can also sort that out,

These two jobs were yesterday, both vehicles had leaks on the condenser, we’ve done our tests, told customer, given quote and fixed it!

Both are newer style as they’re only 8 year old, topped up, pressure tested for no leaks which held and now ready for collection.

Quick Fiesta in for a cylinder head replacement!

This car is a 1.1 and lucky we actually had one of these in stock pressure tested and skimmed. We diagnosed and confirmed issue at 10:35, test drive finished 16:47.

Luckily we do these jobs quick.

Pressure tested and skimmed cylinder head from our stock
New head bolts
New head gasket
New wet belt
New thermostat & gasket

We don’t just fix problems here, we fix the issues that cause the failures. Thermostat had broken down, causing a leak onto the gearbox and essentially been ran dry and caused the cylinder head gasket replacement

We can do these same day! If given noticed, price dependant on job!

Snapped crank yesterday at 2pm -

We’ve rebuilt our first engine ever in house. I definitely don’t want to do many of those, two men started at 1:30-2pm yesterday left at 12:30AM the following morning.

I was in at 6:30 to continue building the engine and then was rejoined about 10 with the other set of hands and just finished around 20:45.

Replacement crank
Replacement big end bearings
Replacement main bearings
Crank seal replacement
Chain replacement.

I’ve got videos and pictures if anyone wants to see how it went!

We’ve relastically worked on vehicle for best part of 24-25 hours.

Proud moment. Engine is sweet as a nut, new tie rod due it being bent and some diff oil, run it for 250 miles, drop oil, inspect!

One of the biggest jobs we’ve ever done, turned around in a day! 😎🤌

BMW in for potentially snapped timing chain!

Turns out the issue was much worse. Snapped crank - let’s see if we get this going again😎

It may drive out, it may roll out but it’ll be off the ramp this weekend 😂

We are around 14 man hours deep into the job and we will hopefully see a running working healthy engine very shortly!

The advertising might be questionable, but the tyres aren’t!

We are now stocking part worn tyres to get you on the road quickly and reliably. Supplied & fitted here in our workshop!

✅ Plenty of tread
✅ Fitted & balanced
✅ Cheaper alternative to new

Ingenium Diaries…

This 2.0 Ingenium was recovered in as a non running car on the back of a truck. Only to find that when we have got into the job, it’s been done before! All timing markings visible, brand new parts and looking very fresh.

This is when a job becomes 10x more complex… because you don’t know what’s been done and to what standard it’s been done to! Of course everything is fixable… but this requires a close eye to identify what has gone wrong or what hasn’t been done properly to a high standard

In this case, we have identified that the fuel pump pulley was finger tight, which caused the woodruff on the fuel pump to snap, which consequently needs a full entire fuel pump replacement at the estimated cost of £1,000 for the part alone.

We’ve been lucky in this sense to be able to find the issue so quickly, as sometimes it’s a case of solving the trickiest puzzle as to what’s gone wrong!

Another 2.0 ingenium in for chains. This one has been done previously. Very very recently. Very very poorly.

I don’t know how or what nor would I name the business. We all have issues, we are all human.

However this has turned a £1995 job into a £3-4K job.

First thing first, engine mount burst. Not cheap, evidently knew about it as a new one in car.

So far, we’ve found the following issues thus far

1: 0 loss Gearbox fluid
2: Rear Crank seal in backwards
3: 4 bolts missing from timing cover
4: bolt in subframe loose
5: timing out

The killer - fuel pump is on a woodruff key, they’ve left the bolt on the fuel pump loose, it was finger tight, essentially snapped the woodruff key and causing timing related issues. With this key being on the actual fuel pump, it now needs a full new pump - genuine part only at around £1,000 cost.

This job was £2,000 but can see if drastically going up.
