The most sustainable part is the one you don’t replace.

World Environment Day always brings the conversation back to impact.

In engineering, one of the biggest environmental wins is designing parts that last. Reliability, durability, and correct material selection reduce waste, downtime, and repeat manufacturing.

It’s not always the most visible form of sustainability, but it’s one of the most effective.

If long‑term performance matters in your application, we’re happy to talk.

Posidonia gave us exactly what we came for — real conversations with the people specifying, maintaining and operating vessels every day.

One lesson came through clearly: hatch sealing is still a small component with a big impact on safety, cargo protection and compliance confidence.

It was great to speak with so many across the marine industry about Pilot® Lidpack®, vessel maintenance and the practical challenges around sealing performance.

Now the follow-up begins.

Next week, we’ll be diving deeper with the contacts we met and continuing the conversation around safer, cleaner and more reliable marine sealing.

Update from Gareth and Lee!

Day three at Posidonia — and we’re still smiling, still talking hatch packing, and still standing… just about.😄

It’s been a busy couple of days already, with some brilliant conversations around tanker hatch sealing, refit planning, compliance, and the small details that make a big difference when you’re trying to keep vessels moving safely and efficiently.

You’ll find us in Hall 1, Stand 1.229 — look out for the Beldam Crossley stand and the two very approachable faces surrounded by Lidpack® samples.

We’ve brought plenty for visitors to get hands-on with, because Lidpack® quality is much easier to understand when you can actually feel the recovery, density and construction for yourself.

If you’re a:

✔️ Ship owner
✔️ Technical superintendent
✔️ Fleet manager
✔️ Marine buyer
✔️ Shipyard or refit specialist
✔️ Distributor supporting tanker operators
✔️ Anyone responsible for hatch sealing performance and compliance

…then it’s well worth coming over for a chat.

Our British-made Pilot® Lidpack® range is manufactured exclusively in the UK by Beldam Crossley and supports demanding marine sealing applications where quality, consistency and traceability matter.

With DNV, Lloyd’s Register and US Coast Guard approvals across key Lidpack® products, it is designed for operators who need confidence in service — not guesswork.

Come and find Gareth and Lee today at:

📍 Posidonia
📍 Hall 1
📍 Stand 1.229

We’ll be the ones talking hatch packing with slightly more enthusiasm than is probably normal. 😄

A new arrival for the Pilot® Lidpack® family. 🚛

This week, a brand-new braiding machine arrived at Beldam Crossley — our **8th machine on the braiding floor** and another important step in supporting increased international demand for **Pilot® Lidpack® hatch packing**.

It joins a carefully built family of specialist equipment used to manufacture the individual elements that come together to make Pilot® Lidpack® products exclusively in the UK by Beldam Crossley.

For marine buyers, vessel operators and distributors, this matters because it supports what Lidpack® is trusted for:

• consistent braid construction
• controlled quality
• reliable product performance
• responsive manufacturing capacity
• UK production knowledge and traceability under one roof

This latest investment is about strengthening our ability to serve international shipping markets while keeping the manufacturing expertise, quality control and product integrity firmly in Bolton.

And the timing could not be better. ⚓

This week, our team are at **Posidonia**, showing premium samples of Pilot® Lidpack® and speaking with customers across the international shipping market about performance, availability and genuine UK-manufactured hatch packing.

From Bolton to global shipping routes — the braiding floor is growing for all the right reasons.

✈️Touchdown in Athens, banners up, smiles on, and the Posidonia countdown is very much on.

Gareth Holt and Lee have made it to the Metropolitan Expo Centre and the stand is taking shape nicely — always a good moment when the boxes are unpacked, the samples are out, and nobody has lost the important cables. Yet.

⚓We’re here for Posidonia 2026 to meet customers, partners and new contacts across the marine industry, and to talk through the sealing challenges that really matter in service:

- Pilot® Lidpack® marine hatch packing
- Rope seal packing and cord seals
- PTFE seals and gaskets
- Custom sealing solutions for marine, offshore and industrial applications

After Beldam Crossley’s King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade win, it feels especially fitting to be here in Athens, ready to catch up with longstanding customers and hopefully meet plenty of new faces too.

If you’re heading to Posidonia this week, there’s still time to book a meeting with us.

Sustainability is built into decisions

Earth Day is a good reminder that sustainability isn’t about headlines. It’s about everyday decisions.

Energy use, material choice, waste reduction, and process control all add up over time. In manufacturing, the most meaningful progress usually comes from small, consistent improvements.

That’s the lens we try to apply when reviewing how things are made and delivered.

If you want to talk through practical ways to reduce risk and impact at the same time, we’re happy to help.
.. and yes we did use a headline to grab your attention 😁

YES! Jumping on the Artemis news cycle bandwagon! — but when your materials have already been there, it feels rude not to 😉🚀

Seriously. What does it really take for a material to perform in space?

With Artemis putting space back in the spotlight, it’s a good moment to reflect on the engineering that quietly underpins it all.

One of those stories for us is Crossflon® 905.

Originally developed for tough industrial environments, it’s also been used in satellite bearing applications — operating in vacuum conditions and extreme cold, where consistency really matters.

It’s not about hype. It’s about materials doing their job, reliably, in places where failure simply isn’t an option.

If you’re designing for performance-critical environments and need materials you can rely on, let’s talk.

Explore our full Crossflon® material range — engineered to be machined into the exact parts your application demands.

Send us your drawing or spec, and we’ll help you find the right solution.

✔️ Rapid manufacturing capability – short lead times when you need it most
✔️ Proven performance – trusted sealing in aggressive cargo environments including naphtha, chemicals, oils and fuels
✔️ DNV & US Coast Guard approved options – for complete confidence in compliance
✔️ Made in the UK – full control from material to finished product

Whether you're replacing failed seals, preparing for inspection, or planning ahead to avoid costly downtime — we can support you immediately.

⚠️ If your current supplier is slow, unreliable, or out of stock… it’s time to switch.
