A client got in touch recently to praise the site team on one of our current projects, supervised by Paul Glynn. Installation quality and SHEQ standards on site have been consistently excellent.

They also singled out one of our site operatives for his work ethic and professionalism. Always engaged, always compliant, always doing the job properly. The client called him a credit to the industry.

80% of cyber attacks exploit basic weaknesses. We've covered them.

Cyber Essentials is the UK government's baseline cyber security standard, overseen by the National Cyber Security Centre. It is built around five technical controls covering firewalls, secure configuration, user access control, malware protection, and security update management. Certification is independently verified through the IASME Consortium.

Pure Companies, including Pure Vent, Pure Labs, and Pure Fabs, are now certified.

For the clients, contractors, and supply chain partners we work with, it means the group has the right protections in place against the most common internet-based threats. An assessed standard that must be renewed every year.

Meet Mark Lomax, Project Manager at Pure Labs.

What's your role?

Project Manager, with some input on technical sales. My focus is on making sure projects run smoothly from manufacture through to completion on site.

What does a typical day look like?

Liaising with clients, suppliers, site teams, and internal departments. Reviewing project schedules, monitoring manufacturing, and making sure milestones are hit. A lot of it is about spotting risk early, whether that's a delay, a design change, a bottleneck in manufacturing or a site coordination issue. I also get involved in system and product design, which I enjoy.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The variety of people. One day you're talking to a senior chemist, the next you're on site with the fitters. No two conversations are the same.

What's been your proudest achievement so far?

Building a company from nothing and running it for 12 years, always putting the customer first and never letting them down. I'm only two months into my time at Pure Labs, but I've already managed to save the business £12k, so it's a decent start!

What might colleagues be surprised to learn?

I played for Bolton under-17s football team.

How do you spend time outside work?

Running after a 12-year-old! I also coach a youth football team and try to spend as much time with family as I can.

Do you have a hobby that helps you switch off?

Time for a hobby would be nice! I do enjoy cooking, though. The spicier the better.

👊 Proud to back apprenticeships during National Apprenticeship Week

Our story is built on apprenticeships.

Three of our current directors began their careers as apprentices, and we’re committed to helping the next generation do the same.

We’re taking on more apprentices across the Pure Companies group and, in conjunction with our training provider Alliance Learning, we’ll be exhibiting at their Open Evening.

Two of our current apprentices, Zac and Emmerson, will be on the stand supported by Pete Connor.

They’ll be available for questions about routes in, day-to-day work, and progression.

It’s that time of year again when we say a big thank you to the people who make Pure what it is.

This week, our teams enjoyed our annual Christmas Raffle and received their Christmas Hampers. Thanks to the generous support of our suppliers, everyone went home with a prize and something extra to enjoy over the holidays.

It’s one of our favourite traditions and a small way of showing how much we appreciate the hard work, teamwork and commitment shown all year round.
